To The Editor:
On January 25, as Supervisor of the Town of Shandaken, I was advised to declare a state of emergency in the town due to severe flooding. I’d like to thank all the volunteers, the fire departments, the Town of Shandaken Police Department, the Town of Shandaken Ambulance Squad, the Ulster County Sheriff’s Department, Belleayre Mountain Ski Center, the DEP and Ulster County Emergency Management for all their assistance and help during and after this threat to our town. I would also like to thank the highway departments of the Town of Shandaken, Ulster County, and New York State.
The crews were out during and after this event helping to avert potential disasters and securing our roadways ensuring safe passage for our citizens. We are grateful that there was no loss of life or homes during this recent emergency.

Robert A. Stanley, Supervisor
Town of Shandaken
