Feb. 24, 2010: Fight back against cancer at Relay for Life

To The Editor:
Mark your calendars! The Delaware County Relay For Life is in full swing for the 2010 event, which begins at 6 p.m. on April 30 at the American Legion in Delhi. Last year the event raised $163,000. In seven years, our relay has raised over $1million dollars! American Cancer Society Hope Lodges have been built, research studies have been started, 840 calls from our region have been answered at the National Cancer Information Center and cancer rates have dropped. Delaware County has been a part of that through the fundraising efforts of every participant.
Help us spread the word that it’s time to sign up or donate to the Delaware County Relay For Life. Check out the Web site www.relayforlife .org/delhiNY
You can purchase luminaries, donate to a friend who is fighting back against cancer or start a team and get involved in helping to raise the second million dollars. Together with American Cancer Society, we are creating a world with less cancer and more birthdays. That’s something to celebrate!
Cancer survivors can also go to the Web site to register. Come to the event and be honored by walking the first lap and enjoying a wonderful dinner especially made for you.
The theme this year is “Why I Relay.” We want to hear your stories. Some of us having been doing this since the beginning and for some of us, this is the first year. All are welcome. Come and join our Relay Family!! Email your story to dcrelay@delhitel.net or if you have any questions.
Come and celebrate our survivors, remember our loved ones lost and fight back against cancer. A world with less cancer is a world with more birthdays. Call the National Cancer Call Center run by the American Cancer Society at 800 ACS-2345 to see what services are available for you.
