Family enjoys a 'Goodell' day of fishing

Dan Goodell Sr. of Margaretville took two of his boys, Danny Jr. and Brandon, on a charter fishing trip on the Hudson River on May 19 with Captain Nick Kulick of Tie One On Charters.

They left the dock at Charles Rider Park in Kingston at 7 a.m. and headed toward the Town of Esopus where Danny Jr., 18, hooked the first fish at 10 a.m., a 22-inch striped bass weighing 10 pounds. Danny’s fish was caught using chunk herring bait.

As they continued their trip, Brandon, 13, hooked the second fish, also a striper, at 10:45 a.m.  Brandon’s fish, caught on live herring bait, was 38-inches long and weighed 25 pounds.
Dan Goodell Sr. caught the third and final fish of the day, also a striper that measured 38 inches long and weighed 20 pounds. His fish was caught on lure.

They headed back to the dock at about 3:15 p.m.  Even though it misted the entire day, and all were wet and cold, they had the day of their lives.
