Frost Valley YMCA is offering a full slate of equestrian programs in 2008, providing young people with opportunities to build their horsemanship knowledge and skills in a safe, pristine environment with professional riding camp counselors.
Two Girl Scout Horse Badge Workshop Weekends on April 11-13 and June 20-22 are designed for Girl Scouts who want to earn their “Horse Fan & Horse Rider” and “Horse Sense” badges.
The weekend includes all instruction, lodging for two nights and six meals. Activities include lessons, grooming and tacking, horse health and care, judging, breeds and colors, trail rides, lessons in horse ownership, and horse behavior. A free one-day Equestrian Center Open House will be held on Saturday, April 19 from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. with an introductory program orientation about the Frost Valley YMCA Equestrian Center.
The Open House includes sessions on grooming, horse behavior, riding demos, orientations to riding and skills evaluations (for ages eight and up), pony rides (ages 4-7), hayrides and tours of the barn.
Frost Valley will host a Spring Break Try-It Overnight Horse Camp April 20-April 23, designed to give youngsters the chance to tune up their horsemanship skills and build on current skills.
