Eder Davis, Jr.

Eder Charles Davis Jr., a long-time resident of Andes, died at his home on Thursday, July 10, 2014 with family members by his side.
Eder was born in Vega on August 27, 1929, the son of Eder Charles and Maud Helen (Palmatier) Davis. He married Mary D. Bell on November 10, 1951 in the Arkville Methodist Church. Mary died on May 4, 2008.
In the early 1950s Eder drove a log truck in Denver for Romeo Segnini. He then joined the Local Union 17 at Newburgh and worked for 30 years in heavy construction. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1955 to 1956. He was a member of the Andes Fire Department for 25 years and was an avid hunter and fisherman.
Eder is survived by four sons, Roger and his wife Margaret of Arkville, Ronald and his wife Sandra of Andes, Randy Davis of Downsville, and Ricky and his wife Sue of Livingston Manor; daughters, Patricia of Olive Bridge, and Pamela and her companion, Steven Swart of Andes and a brother, Harold Davis and his wife Debra of Texas. Eleven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren also survive.
He was predeceased by his wife, Mary; a brother, Henry S. Davis on January 11, 1992 and a grandson, Ronald E. Davis Jr. who died on October 20, 1991.
A funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, July 13, 2014 at the Hynes Funeral Home in Margaretville. Calling hours will be held prior to the service on Sunday from noon until service time at 2 p.m.
Donations may be made to the Catskill Area Hospice in memory of Eder Charles Davis Jr.
