County judge candidate started law practice in 1987
Delaware County Judge candidate Gary Rosa is an area native and graduated from Margaretville Central School in 1978.
He received a Bachelor of Arts degree from SUNY Plattsburgh and in 1982 earned a Juris Doctor from Albany Law School in 1985.
Mr. Rosa worked as an associate legislative counsel for the NYS Department of State from 1985-88. He opened his private legal practice in Margaretville on a part-time basis in 1987 and expanded to full-time the following year. He has served as a justice for the Town of Middletown since 1992.
His professional affiliations include: member and immediate past president of the Delaware County Bar Association, member of the NYS Bar Association, member of the Delaware County and NYS County Magistrates’ Associations.
He is currently a member of the MARK Project Inc. Board of Directors, past president of Margaretville Hospital Board of Directors, member and past Master of Margaretville Masonic Lodge No. 389, past staff officer of Grand Lodge of the State of New York and past District Deputy Grand Master for the Delaware District.
He and his wife, Lori, have lived in New Kingston for the past 21 years. She teaches high school social studies at Walton Central School.
Together the couple have four children: Ryan who is a 1st lieutenant in the US Marines, currently serving in Afghanistan; Brendan who is in the Army Reserves; Andrew who recently graduated with a degree in architecture; and Katie who is a freshman at Denison University in Ohio.
In his leisure time, Mr. Rosa enjoys backyard maple syrup making, woodworking, hunting and fishing.
