The Ulster County Highway Department announced late last week that it will tear up Phoenicia’s Main Street and repave it this week as long as the weather permits.
The project calls for the street to be redone between July 21 and 22 from the Phoenicia Pharmacy eastward all the way down to the Parish Hall of the Saint Francis de Sales Church.
While there will be no parking allowed during the work, traffic will be allowed.
Weather is predicted to be favorable for the job, at least at this point, with only a small chance of rain in the forecast.
According to Shandaken Supervisor Rob Stanley, reaction to the project is minimal. “I haven’t heard a word about it from anyone,” he said Friday.
