Community pride and spirit

To The Editor:
I’d like to thank the community of Middletown for your overwhelming support of the recent fundraiser for the Community Pantry. Through your monetary donations, purchase of raffle tickets and the car wash, we raised over $1,400 by Wednesday, July 3. The donations were still coming in after the event. This is a great example of true community pride and spirit and I am proud to be a part of that.

Thank you to all who volunteered their time on such short notice. What a great group, you made it fun. There are too many individuals to list but you know who you are and should be very proud of what you accomplished.

One of the most memorable moments of the day was to hear a young volunteer say, “This is fun, more people should do things like this more often.” To Greg and Cameron for their DJ service, you kept it lively and kept us going. Where else could you see the chicken dance and the Macarena at a car wash? We had a blast and the mix was perfect.

Thank you to Maddie and Allen for serving refreshments and your contribution to the event. Thank you to the Margaretville Car Wash for allowing us to take over their business for the afternoon that was true generosity. And last but not least, thank you to the Community Pantry volunteers for the service you provide to Middletown.
