Community Christmas dinner planned at Sportsman
Phoenicia — In the spirit of the Holiday Season, Phoenicia’s popular Sportsman’s Alamo Cantina will once again open its doors on Christmas Day to welcome the citizens of Shandaken to a festive “Christmas Community Dinner.”
From 1 to 4 p.m. on Christmas Day (December 25), the Ricciardella Family, owners of The Sportsman’s Cantina, and a staff of volunteers will prepare and serve a traditional holiday dinner free to all residents of Shandaken and the surrounding townships, who are needy or alone, are elderly or home-bound, have no where to go, or would just like to stop by and join their neighbors on Christmas Day.
“It’s the season for giving, sharing and celebrating, especially with family and friends,” says Mike Ricciardella, “and the residents of Shandaken are family and friends to us and we want to celebrate our Christmas with them,” he added.
“It’s been another very difficult year for the Catskills communities, especially after the disaster and devastation caused by Hurricane Irene. So many residents lost not only their homes, but also everything they owned. So let’s take a breather, sit down, and put our problems on the back burner for one day and enjoy dinner together,” encouraged Mike.
Please call 688-5259 for more information or to schedule transportation to and from the dinner. Meals will be delivered to individuals who are physically unable to attend the event.
Donations will be accepted to benefit Phoenicia’s Helping Hands Food Pantry.
The Sportsman’s Alamo Cantina is located on Main Street in Phoenicia.
