Clinton Eugene Hunter, 70, of Helene, Alabama, formerly of Roxbury, died Monday, Sept. 28, 2009 at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Birmingham, Ala. He was born in the Town of Roxbury November 22, 1938, the son of Bert and Ella (Mayes) Hunter. He graduated from Roxbury Central School in the class of 1957.
Clint was in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War from 1960-1966 and was a recipient of the Purple Heart.
For several years Clint worked at the Belleayre Ski Center at Highmount.
He lived most of his life in the Roxbury-Margaretville area, and most recently lived in Alabama.
Surviving are two sons, Dean and Helene Hunter and Chris and Laura Hunter; two daughters, Diane and Gary Despaw and Amy and Bill Sprague. Also surviving are grandchildren, Hailee Hunter, CJ and Garrett Hunter, Derek, Aaron and Kyle Despaw and Raven and Nicholas Sprague and sisters, Velda, Betty, Ruth, Rose and Janet; brothers, John and Dick and nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a brother, Bert and a sister, Ena.
There will be a time for family and friends to celebrate Clint’s life at the Miller Funeral Home, Roxbury on Friday, Oct. 2 from 6 to 8 p.m.
Committal will be private at a later date.
In memory of Clinton E. Hunter, donations may be made to the American Heart Association.
