Charges still pending in fatal Andes accident

Charges are still pending following a fatal accident on Dec. 13 in the Town of Andes.
State police said this week that no tickets have been issued in a Route 28 accident that killed 31-year-old Jon Church of Wells Bridge.
The accident occurred shortly before 10:30 p.m. just west of the hamlet of Andes. Church was traveling east when he drove off the south side of the road and his vehicle became lodged in a ditch.
He managed to crawl through the driver’s side window onto the roadway where he was hit by an eastbound vehicle driven by Christine Arnao, 44, of Andes.
A second vehicle, this one traveling west, then also struck Church.
The second vehicle did not stop and was later traced to Kingston. Police said this week that Jermaine L. Campbell, 21, of Kingston was the operator.
Police said that charges are pending in the case after an investigation of the incident is concluded. Police said last week that alcohol is believed to be a factor in the case.
The Delaware County District Attorney’s office is being consulted.
