Chapter of Mats planned in Halcottsville

Halcottsville — The Franciscan Community of Reconciliation, a religious order of the Catholic Apostolic Church in North America, will conduct its Chapter of Mats in the Margaretville and Halcottsville area from October 5 through October 7. 

All are welcome to join the Franciscans at several events. On Saturday evening, October 5, the Transitus, a prayer service celebrating St. Francis of Assisi’s entrance into heaven, will take place at Holy Innocents Church in Halcottsville, at 7:30 p.m.

On Sunday Oct. 7 at 10 a.m., three members of the community will profess their final vows in the Franciscan Community. They include Rev. Linda Wilson of South Kortright, Sister Evelyn Whittaker of Roxbury and Brooklyn and Rev. Patti Smith of Putnam Valley.

The sister’s vows will be accepted by the Minister General, Bishop Francisco Betancourt, FCR. This celebration will take place at the regular Sunday Mass at Holy innocents at 10 a.m.
Following the Mass the public is invited to have their pets blessed at the annual blessing of the animals, starting at 11:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m.
