Carolyn (Ferrandino) Welch, a resident of Gilboa, died Friday, Aug. 8, 2014 at Robinson Terrace Senior Living in Stamford.
Carol was born in Brooklyn on May 28,1930, the daughter of Michael and Donata (Anaella) Ferrandino. She attended college at New York University in New York City and Oxford University in England.
Carol worked at Bellevue Hospital in New York City and St. John’s Hospital in Queens. She was a former resident of Maspeth, Gilboa, Grand Gorge, and most recently, Robinson Terrace Senior Living.
She served on the Gilboa Central School Board of Education, being the first woman to serve on that board.
She is survived by daughters, Carmela and her husband Michael Keyles of Short Hills, NJ, Robin Fleischman and John Giordano of Gilboa, Dr. William Welch and Bonnie of Philadelphia, PA and Paris and Eva Welch of Astoria; grandchildren, Trinity Fleischman of Cutchog, Amber Mousouroulis of Brooklyn, Kimberly Welch of Queens, and Rachel Welch of Pennsylvania, Daniel Keyles and Kelly Keyles of Short Hills, NJ and a great grandchild, Niko Mousouroulis of Brooklyn.
Carol was predeceased by her husband, William Welch.
A funeral mass was celebrated at 10 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 11, 2014 at St. Theresa’s Roman Catholic Church in Windham with the Rev. Jay Afertin as celebrant.
A committal service followed at Manorkill Cemetery.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Miller Funeral Home, Roxbury.
