Brenda Finch-Hasay honored as NY Postmaster of the Year
By Julia Green
A familiar face in Margaretville and Arkville has garnered recognition on a pretty big stage.
Brenda Finch-Hasay, the postmaster of the Arkville Post Office and the officer-in-charge at the Margaretville Post Office, was presented with the New York Postmaster of the Year Award at the state convention in Cooperstown at the end of May. At the start of August, Hasay, along with recipients of the award from other states, were recognized before the National League of Postmasters annual convention in Louisville, Ky.
Hasay was nominated by her peers for the work she has contributed to the organization, including terms she served as vice president and her current term as secretary/treasurer. She has been an employee of the United States Postal Service for 22 years, having begun as a clerk in Fleischmanns. She has also served as postmaster in Big Indian and Shandaken and has fulfilled officer-in-charge duties in numerous area post offices.
Hasay was presented with the award by Carmela LaSapio-McGrath, postmaster at the Windham Post Office and current president of the New York State Branch of the National League of Postmasters.
