Bovina Library plans Farm Fest

Bovina — The Second Annual Bovina Public Library Holiday Farm Feast will be held Saturday, Dec. 1 from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at LaFever Excavating, located at 3135 county Highway 6, just outside of the hamlet of Bovina Center.

The event, sponsored by the Friends of the Bovina Public Library with assistance from Farming Bovina, will feature locally raised and produced beef, chicken, turkey, lamb, veal, pork, cheese, vegetables and more including Burnett Farms, Fieldstone Farm, Crystal Brook Farm, Sunflower Farm of Bovina, Webcrest Farm, Maple Shade Farm, Breadfellows and many more.

Decorations for the event will include Christmas trees from Robson’s Tree Farm, which will go up for auction during the evening, all to benefit the library. The dinner, which was held in the Community Center in 2011, has been moved in part to easily accommodate what was an overwhelming turnout last year for what promises once again to be a slow food gourmand’s delight as well as a complete sell-out.

The U.P. Church’s Wednesday Afternoon Kids’ Group, led by Pastor Garrett Schindler with assistance from Monica Liddle, will be ringing bells to the delight of all as in 2011, and a group sing of Christmas Carols by those present who are in the holiday mood will round out the evening.
Bovina Library tee shirts and aprons, commemorating the library’s 95th anniversary featuring art by Hans Hilson-Schneider, will be available for purchase at the door.

Advance tickets are for sale in Bovina at the library, 33 Maple Avenue, as well as at Russell’s Store on Main Street in Bovina Center and from Friends Committee Members. They are $12 for adults, $6 for kids under 12 with children under five free. At the door tickets will be $15 for adults and $7 for children under 12.

Diners are encouraged to BYOB, although soft drinks will be provided; there will also be take-out dinners available for $10 if reserved prior to December 1 by calling 607 832-4884, where more information on the event will be also be available.
