Betty Martin Munro, a life-long resident of Delaware County, passed away on March 30, 2014.
Betty was born July 30, 1929, to Wendall and Elisabeth Sacket Martin. She and eight siblings, Wendall (Stub), Frank (Pepper), Don, Dave, Jim, Stan, Jeanne, and Jerry, enjoyed great adventures on the Prairie Hill Farm near Bloomville. Her curiosity and determination made her a great student, teacher, administrator, active volunteer at the Roxbury Public Library, and mentor in adventure to hundreds of children throughout Delaware County and beyond.
She was preceded in death by Robert Munro, Don Broekema, and brothers, Frank, Dave, Jim, Stan and Jerry Martin.
Betty is survived by her children, William and Diane Munro of Florida, Denise and Brian Manning of Whitefish, MT, and Karen Munro of Roxbury; her devoted grandchildren, Robert (Robb) and Stephanie Munro, Ryan and Andy Oosterheert, Allyn and Megan Shultis, Garrett Munro, Aaryn Manning and Rebecca Manning; her great-grandchildren, Joshua and Josephine Oosterheert, and William (Liam) Munro; dear friends Phil and Lois Corsi, her beloved Corsi and Martin nieces and nephews, and all the children who loved “Aunt Betty.”
A celebration of Betty’s life will be held at 1 p.m. on Sunday, June 22 at the Roxbury Arts Center, Vega Mt. Road in Roxbury. Betty’s family looks forward to gathering with old friends; hearing and sharing stories of Betty’s adventures and contributions to the lives of so many.
The Miller Funeral Home, Roxbury assisted the family.
