Better health, more fun

To The Editor:
As you might be aware, May is National Bicycle month!
A bicycle is defined by law, not as a recreational outlet but as a mode of transportation. Remember to ride WITH the traffic, and ALWAYS wear a proper helmet.

The side benefits of cycling are, better health, both mental and physical, meeting new people, and constantly changing scenery. If you want to join a cycling club, go to and join. Rides take place on Tuesday evenings, meeting across from Freshtown in Margaretville.
You say, “I’m a novice.” No matter, every other Tuesday mornings, Becky Porter will lead a group starting at the Stone Schoolhouse in Dunraven at 9 a.m.

Most of all, join the growing group of riders who participate in the annual “Tour de Pepacton,” on Sunday, May 26 starting on Main Street, Margaretville. Not a cyclist? Sign up for the 5K-walk/run event, “Float yer Boat.”

Both register at the parking lot across from Freshtown, beginning at 8:30 a.m. Net proceeds will benefit Catskill Area Hospice & Palliative Care, Inc. and the Margaretville Hospital Auxiliary.
See you there, rain or shine. For more information please call 607 326-4734.
