Auxiliary, MCS host successful blood drive

The Auxiliary of Margaretville Hospital and Mountainside Residential Care Center teamed with Margaretville Central School for a successful blood drive at the school on May 29. Students, school personnel and community members were invited to donate blood. In total, 37 donors participating in the blood drive, which was held in the school auditorium.
MCS teacher Catherine Sapinsky and Kathie Herbst, auxiliary chairperson, coordinated the event with the American Red Cross.
“The class set up the event with the auxiliary and the Red Cross and the kids helped run the blood drive all day,” Ms. Sapinsky commented. “We feel like it’s an important thing to do. The kids needed an opportunity to give back.”
Mrs. Herbst said the auxiliary enjoyed working in conjunction with the students and the school.
“The auxiliary and the school are both vital components of our local communities and this type of cooperation is very important,” she stated.
