Author to read at Roxbury Arts Group

Roxbury —Writers in the Mountains will present author Ginnah Howard of Gilbertsville in a reading from her recently published first novel, Night Navigation and a discussion of the publishing process on Sunday, Sept. 27 at 2 p.m. in the Walt Meade Gallery of The Roxbury Arts Center. Admission is $5 and a reception will follow the talk.
Ginnah Howard’s work has appeared in Water ~ Stone Review, Portland Review, Permafrost, Phoebe, Ballyhoo, Out of the Catskills and Beyond, Descant 145 and elsewhere. Several of her stories have been nominated for a Pushcart Prize. She has been awarded residencies at the MacDowell Colony, Blue Mountain Center, Ucross, Saltonstall and Hedgebrook.
Her novel, Night Navigation, published by Houghton Mifflin Harcourt (April, 2009), is available in bookstores now. Reviews include the following from The New York Times Book Review: “The strength of this story pulls Howard’s readers along, unable to turn away from a fierce mother and son who are determined to negotiate the future without having to ‘detour around every moment of their past.’”
WIM President Ann Epner says, “Many of the writers who enroll in our classes are eager to learn how to find an agent, get published and what role residency programs play in facilitating the process. Ginnah Howard is the perfect person to share that information.” For more info, call 607 326-7908.
