Arkville VFD has 75 calls last year, elects 2014 officers
The Arkville Fire Department responded to 75 calls last year, according to the organization’s Annual Report for 2013.
Volunteers responded to 27 medical emergencies last year, the most common call for the department. AFD members were summoned nine times for calls involving hazardous conditions and also answered nine automatic alarms.
The AFD answered eight calls for motor vehicle accidents and had six mutual-aid-to-the-scene responses. Department members had four public service calls, responded to three structure fires and provided mutual aid standby on three occasions.
Department members conducted two smoke investigations and answered two calls that turned out to be false alarms. The AFD also answered one car fire and one brush fire.
The AFD elected officers for 2014 at its February meeting. Robert Sweeney was re-elected chief. Noel Amundsen was elected first assistant chief; Tom Roberts, second assistant chief; Jon Ferraro, captain; Caitlyn Roberts, lieutenant; Andy Straut, safety officer; and Connie Spielman, infection control officer;
Also elected were: Cheryl Roberts, president; Marie Ferraro, vice president; Jessica Olenych, secretary; and JR Lawrence, treasurer.
Elected to the Board of Directors were: Noel Amundsen, George Griffin, Tom Roberts and Andy Straut.
