Area Police News: Nov. 18, 2009

Chester W. Keyser, 33, of North Blenheim was arrested by state police last week Sunday and charged with DWI after he was stopped for speeding on South Gilboa Road in the Town of Gilboa.
Police say they charged Keyser with DWI when his blood alcohol level allegedly tested .10 percent. He was also charged with speeding, loud exhaust and failure to notify the Department of Motor Vehicles of a change of address. Keyser is scheduled to appear in Town of Gilboa Justice Court on Dec. 10 to answer the charges.

Calvin J. Mullen, 51, of Hobart was arrested by state police on Thursday, Nov. 5 and charged with DWI after he was stopped for speeding on Route 10 in the Village of Stamford.
Police say they charged Mullen when his blood alcohol level allegedly tested .13 percent. Mullen was also charged with speeding. He was arraigned in the Village of Stamford Justice Court and remanded to the county jail in lieu of $5,000 cash bail. Police say that a background check revealed that Mullen is wanted by officials in Louisiana and that he will be extradited there pending the conclusion of his DWI prosecution here.

Chad L. Trombley, 21, of Oneonta was arrested by state police last week Tuesday and charged with unlawful possession of marijuana after he was stopped on Route 28 in Arkville for failure to signal a turn. Trombley was also charged with driving an uninspected motor vehicle and unlicensed operation. He was issued appearance tickets returnable in Town of Middletown Justice Court on November 30.

Richard J. Bailey, 36, of Union, Maine was arrested by state police Wednesday and charged with driving with a suspended license after he was stopped on Route 28 in the Town of Middletown for speeding. Bailey was arraigned in Middletown Justice Court and remanded to the county jail in lieu of $1,000 cash bail to await further court action.

James R. Armstrong, 24, of Meridale was arrested by state police Thursday and faces a number of charges after he was stopped on Elm Street in Delhi for not wearing a seat belt. Police say they charged Armstrong with not wearing a seat belt, second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation and unlawful possession of marijuana. He was arraigned in Town of Kortright Justice Court and remanded to the county jail in lieu of $250 cash bail.

Brett A. Barnett, 18, of Stamford was arrested by state police Sunday and charged with DWI after he was stopped on South Street for failure to signal a turn. Police say they charged Barnett when his blood alcohol level allegedly tested .15 percent. In addition to DWI Barnett was also charged with unlawful possession of marijuana, failure to signal a turn and failure to notify the department of motor vehicles of an address change. He was issued appearance tickets returnable in Village of Stamford Justice Court on December 13.
