Area Police News: March 27, 2013
A South Kortright Central School student was arrested by state police on March 21 and charged with criminal possession of a weapon on school grounds. Police say they arrested Joseph G. Leonard, 17, of Bloomville after receiving a complaint from the school’s principal that he had noticed a shotgun in the student’s unattended vehicle.
Police responded to the scene and questioned the student who told them that his dad had given him the gun the day before and that he had forgotten to take it out of his vehicle before coming to school. He told police that he had no intention of using the gun or bringing the gun to school.
Leonard was issued an appearance ticket returnable in Town of Kortright Court on April 2 at 7 p.m.
Marc G. Thomas, 21, of Long Island City was arrested by state police on March 23 and charged with second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation after he was stopped on Route 10 in the Town of Kortright for a traffic violation.
Thomas was arraigned in Town of Kortright Justice Court were he posted $500 bail and is scheduled to reappear on April 16.
Kerryann Lewis, 45, of Hicksville was arrested by state police on March 23 and charged with DWI after she was stopped on Route 10 in Hamden for speeding.
Lewis was issued appearance tickets returnable in Hamden Justice Court on April 15 at 5:30 p.m.
Jeanette R. Thompson, 62, of Roxbury was arrested by state police on March 23 and charged with DWI after she was stopped on Route 30 in the Town of Roxbury for a driving erratically. Police say they charged Thompson when her blood alcohol level allegedly tested .12 percent.
She was issued appearance tickets returnable in Town of Roxbury Justice Court on April 17 at 9 a.m.
Corey T. Proudman, 23, of Grand Gorge was arrested by state police on March 19 and charged with disorderly conduct following a domestic dispute with his girlfriend.
Police say Proudman was arraigned in Roxbury Justice Court where he pled guilty, was fined $400, and ordered to take an anger management class.
