Area Police News: March 11, 2009

Casey J. Roe, 20, of Schenectady was arrested by state police Friday and charged with DWI after he got his car stuck on a snowbank on Huckleberry Brook Road in the Town of Middletown while trying to turn around. State police say they responded to the scene following a call and found Roe walking down the road. He was charged when his blood alcohol level allegedly tested .08 percent. Roe was issued an appearance ticket returnable in Town of Middletown Justice Court on April 20.

State police say they charged Diane M. Fairbairn, 16, of Margaretville, whom police say was a passenger in Roe’s vehicle, with an ABC violation of underage drinking. Fairbairn was issued an appearance ticket returnable in Town of Middletown Justice Court on May 12.

Shane E. Gallo, 19, of Roxbury was arrested by state police last week Tuesday and charged with unlawful possession of marijuana after he was stopped in a roadblock on Route 30 in Roxbury. Police say they detected the odor of marijuana and issued Gallo an appearance ticket after they found a small amount of the drug in his vehicle. Gallo is scheduled to appear in Town of Roxbury Justice Court on March 11.

Joyce A. Finch, 32, of Margaretville was arrested by state police Thursday and charged with fourth-degree grand larceny after she allegedly stole a wallet containing credit and debit cards from an employee at Margaretville Memorial Hospital while she was there as a patient. Police say Finch then used the stolen cards to make purchases at two stores in Margaretville before they were reported missing.

Charges of DWI and refusal to take a breath test against Andes resident Erich Brannen were dismissed in Town of Andes Justice Court last week. Brannen’s attorney had made demands for information from the county district attorney’s office that were not met in a timely manner as required by law and the court dismissed the charges as a result. Brannen was represented by Stamford attorney Michael A. Jacobs.
