Area Police News: June 25, 2014
The Delaware County Criminal Investigation Division arrested Brayan Thompson, 24, of Delhi on June 19. Thompson was charged with one count each of reckless driving, unsafe start, and third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.
The charges stem from an incident where Thompson allegedly created a dangerous situation at the scene of a traffic accident. Thompson was arraigned in the Town of Delhi Court and remanded to the county jail in lieu of $1,000 cash bail pending further court action.
Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested Michael H. Vogel of Delhi on June 19 on two separate bench warrants both issued by Town of Delhi Justice R. Gumo for failure to pay fines.
Vogel was arraigned before Judge Gumo and remanded to the county jail in lieu of $1,200 cash bail.
Two downstate men were charged with unlawful possession of marijuana on June 22 after troopers stopped their vehicle at the intersection of Route 28 and Depot Street in Fleischmanns for speeding.
Police say they charged Thomas P. Downey, 20, of Goshen and David W. Valone, 27, of Pittsford with UPM. Valone was additionally charged with speeding.
Both men were issued tickets returnable in Town of Middletown Justice Court on July 17 at 9 a.m.
Shane B. Briggs, 24, of Stamford was arrested by state police on June 22 and charged with aggravated DWI after he was stopped for traffic violations on Route 23 in Stamford.
Police say they charged Briggs with DWI when his blood alcohol level allegedly tested .19 percent. Briggs was also charged with moving from lane unsafely, no plate lamp, and with having an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle.
He was issued tickets returnable in Town of Stamford Justice Court on July 8.
Danielle A. Forte, 26, of Stamford was arrested by state police on June 22 and charged with second-degree assault after she allegedly struck another woman in the face with a bottle at John’s Tavern in Stamford. Police say the woman who was struck required six stitches above her left eye.
Forte was arraigned in Town of Stamford Justice Court and released to reappear at a later date.
Billy Haynes, 41, of Arkville was arrested by state police on May 28 and charged with second-degree harassment after an argument with his girlfriend’s son allegedly turned physical. State police say there were no injuries in the domestic incident.
Haynes was issued an appearance ticket returnable in Town of Middletown Justice Court.
Ruskin A. Alderfer, 28, of Roxbury was arrested by state police on June 14 and charged with second-degree harassment following an ongoing situation with neighbors. Police report that neighbors complained that Alderfer repeatedly tried to make contact with their four-year-old daughter against their wishes.
Alderfer was issued a summons returnable in Town of Roxbury Justice Court on July 2 at 9 a.m.
