Area Police News: June 18, 2008
Two Margaretville residents were arrested by state police Thursday on outstanding warrants. Police say they picked up Ellsworth R. Velez, 21, who was wanted by the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office on an outstanding warrant issued by the Town of Middletown Justice Court and Andrew J. Montalto, 33, who was wanted by state police in Princetown for an outstanding warrant charging him with DWI and several traffic violations.
Joann Waters, 46, of Prattsville was arrested by state police Friday and charged with DWI after she was stopped on Route 23 in Gilboa.
Police say they charged Waters when she allegedly failed a field sobriety test.
She was issued an appearance ticket returnable in Town of Gilboa Justice Court on June 26.
Uta Gundelach, 57, of Margaretville was arrested by state police early Saturday morning and charged with DWI after she was stopped by state police at the intersection of Route 28 and Southside Road for allegedly crossing a double solid yellow line three times. Police say they charged Gundelach with DWI after she allegedly failed a field sobriety test. She was issued an appearance ticket returnable in Middletown Justice Court on June 30.
A 20-year-old Andes woman was charged with DWI and three passengers in her car were charged with underage possession of alcohol after state police stopped their vehicle on Route 10 in Hobart Sunday for speeding. Facing charges of DWI, unlawful possession of alcohol by a person under 21, speeding, no seat belt and drinking alcohol in a motor vehicle is Sarah Henderson, 20, of Andes. Charged with unlawful possession of alcohol by a person under 21 were Carissa D. Birdsall, 20, of Stamford, Kelly D. Gladstone, 19, of Bovina and Brian R. Schmitz, 18, of Delhi. All four subjects were released in the custody of their parents after being issued appearance tickets returnable in Town of Stamford Justice Court.
Three Roxbury area men were arrested by state police Sunday after they allegedly assaulted a Jefferson man in the parking lot of the Grand Gorge Country Store. State police say they charged Michael D. Hadden, 22, of Grand Gorge with second-degree harassment and disorderly conduct, Corey T. Proudman, 18, also of Grand Gorge, with the same charges and Vincent A. Palmisano, 23, of Roxbury with third-degree assault and disorderly conduct. All three men were arraigned in Village of Stamford Justice Court.
Shandaken Police report that they arrested Jeremy J. Morris, 24, of Pine Hill Saturday for second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle following a traffic stop on Route 42 in Shandaken. Also arrested was a passenger in Morris’ vehicle, Kelly A. Head, 25, of Shandaken who was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana. Morris was arraigned in Shandaken Justice Court and released. Head was issued an appearance ticket returnable in Shandaken Justice Court.
Shandaken Police arrested 25-year-old Lester Brown of Phoenicia Monday following a traffic stop on Route 28 when the license plates on his car were listed as stolen. Brown was charged with one count of fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, as well as driving an unregistered motor vehicle and driving an uninsured motor vehicle. He was issued appearance tickets returnable in Shandaken Justice Court.
