Area Police News: June 16, 2010

Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested Joanne McIntosh, 56, of Bovina Center on Saturday for issuing a bad check. McIntosh was issued an appearance ticket for Bovina Town Court to appear at a later date to answer the charge.
Joshua A. George, 25, of Roxbury was arrested by state police last Wednesday and charged with stealing two items from the Grand Gorge Country Store.
George was charged with two counts of petit larceny and two counts of second-degree criminal contempt for allegedly violating a temporary order of protection.
He was arraigned in Town of Roxbury Justice Court and remanded to the county jail on no bail to await further court action.
Augusto A. Rodriguez, 32, of Grand Gorge was arrested by state police last week Monday and charged with second-degree menacing and second-degree reckless endangerment after he allegedly tried to stab another man over a pair of sunglasses that were stolen from the Grand Gorge Country Store where he works.
Rodriguez was issued appearance tickets returnable in Town of Roxbury Justice Court.
Michael P. Dorosky, 29, of Stamford was arrested by state police Thursday and charged with first-degree rape and second-degree harassment following a domestic dispute at his home in Stamford.
Dorosky was arraigned in Stamford Village Justice Court and remanded to the county jail in lieu of $2,500 cash bail to await further court action.
Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies on June 14 arrested Lisa Schmidt, 34, and Christopher Barnes, 36, from Colchester. Both parties are alleged to have engaged in a physical domestic incident with that took place on Terry Clove Rd. in the Town of Hamden.
Schmidt was charged with three counts of endangering the welfare of a child. Schmidt sustained minor injuries in result of the altercation.
Barnes was charged with three counts of endangering the welfare of a child, unlawful imprisonment and third-degree assault.
Both parties were arraigned and released on their own recognizance and are to appear back in court on July 12. Orders of protection were also filed due to the physicality of the incident.
Delaware County Sheriff Deputies investigated on June 13 a one-car property damage accident on county Highway 26 in the Town of Colchester.  A pickup truck being operated by Frank A. Lorusso, 52, from Hamden was traveling south when Lorusso noticed an oncoming vehicle about to enter a bridge at the same time as his vehicle. 
Lorusso braked, causing the rear of his pickup to spin out.  The Lorusso vehicle struck the guiderails on the southbound shoulder of the roadway, spinning the pickup, causing it to travel backwards, striking a bridge.  Lorusso and his daughter, Christina M. Lorusso, were transported by ambulance to Delaware Valley Hospital for observation where they were treated and released.  There were no injuries and no tickets were issued.
