Area Police News: July 27, 2011

Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested Timothy J. Wren, 51, of Colchester on July 20 and charged him with one count of first-degree forcible touching, a class A misdemeanor and three counts third-degree rape, a class E felony, and other related felony charges.
It is alleged that Wren engaged in sexual acts with a child less than 17 years old.
Wren was arraigned before the Town of Colchester Court and released on his on recognizance.
The investigation into this and other alleged incidents is continuing at this time and additional charges may be pending.

Joseph Kerwin, 33, of Brooklyn was arrested by state police on July 19 and charged with unlawful possession of marijuana after he allegedly gave a store clerk in Stamford a hard time when asked for identification.
Police say they issued Kerwin an appearance ticket returnable in Village of Stamford Justice Court.

Edward K. Heisinger, 49, of Delhi was arrested by state police on July 21 on a bench warrant issued by the Town of Roxbury Justice Court for failure to pay a fine.
Heisinger was arraigned and remanded to the county jail in lieu of $1,615 cash bail to await further court action.

Rita M. Visco, 52, of Nanuet was arrested by state police on July 20 and charged with DWI after police received a complaint that an intoxicated woman had parked her car in a parking lot on Harper Road in Stamford.
Police say they charged Visco when her blood alcohol level allegedly tested .22 percent. She was arraigned and sent to the county jail to await further court action.

Anton Georgakopoulos, 69, of Grand Gorge was arrested by state police on July 20 and charged with driving with a suspended license after he was stopped on Route 23 in Stamford. He was also charged with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation and several other traffic violations.
Georgakopoulos was issued tickets returnable in Town of Harpersfield Justice Court.

David J. Lebel, 20, of Grand Gorge was arrested by state police on July 21 following a domestic dispute with his wife and a fight with another man.
Police say they charged Lebel with criminal obstruction of breath and second-degree harassment after he allegedly beat up a man the police described as his wife’s boyfriend and tried to choke him.
Lebel was issued an appearance ticket returnable in Town of Harpersfield Justice Court.

Richard E. Pavia, 53, of Grand Gorge was arrested by state police on July 23 and charged with DWI after he walked into the Stewart’s store in Stamford and a trooper, who was in the store at the time allegedly smelled alcohol on his breath.
After a search of his car Pavia was also charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance and possession of a hypodermic needle.
He was issued tickets returnable in Village of Stamford Justice Court.

A Roxbury woman, Alberta J. VanDyke, 51, was injured last week Tuesday when her car went off Route 30 north of Roxbury at a high rate of speed, flew 300 feet through the air and came to rest 500 feet from the roadway. Roxbury Constable Steve Williamson reports that VanDyke was thrown from the vehicle and traveled 75 feet through the air.
VanDyke was transported to Margaretville and then airlifted to Albany Medical Center where she remains in intensive care.
Constable Williams reports that an investigation is continuing and that tickets will be issued.

Christian Rosa, 17, of Cobleskill escaped serious injury on July 19 when he lost control of his motorcycle on Route 23 between Grand Gorge and Prattsville.
Rosa was transported to Margaretville Hospital where he was treated.
According to Roxbury Constable Steve Williamson, who investigated the accident, no tickets were issued.
