Area Police News: January 8, 2014

Nicholas J. Hanley, 25, of Arkville was arrested by state police on January 1 and charged with fourth-degree criminal mischief following a domestic dispute with his girlfriend at his residence in Arkville. Police say Hanley was highly intoxicated at the time of the incident.
Hanley was arraigned in Town of Roxbury Justice Court and remanded to the county jail in lieu of $1,500 cash bail to await further court action.
Peter J. Cella, 19, of Fleischmanns was arrested by state police on the evening of January 4 and charged with unlawful possession of marijuana and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance after police approached his car, which was parked in the west parking lot of Margaretville Central School, and allegedly detected the odor of marijuana. Upon questioning, police say Cella turned over to them a bag containing 2.2 grams of marijuana and a subsequent search of the vehicle also produced one 10-milligram pill of oxycodone.
Police say four passengers in the vehicle, who were not identified by police, were not charged.
Cella was issued appearance tickets returnable in Town of Middletown Justice Court on January 16 at 9 a.m.
