Area Police News: February 29, 2012
Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested Aleksandr Melamedov, 30, of New York City on February 13 and charged him with unlawful possession of marijuana and cultivation of marijuana by an unlicensed person.
On Monday afternoon Delaware County 911dispatched Delhi Volunteer firefighters to a structure fire in a garage located on county Highway 2 (Cabin Hill Road) in the Town of Hamden. Responding firefighters discovered an indoor marihuana growing operation at that location and summoned deputies to the scene.
A search of the garage led to the seizure of 42 marijuana plants.
The Delaware County Fire Investigation Team determined the cause of the fire to be accidental in nature and was attributed to lighting associated with the marijuana growing operation.
Melamedov was issued appearance tickets and released to answer the charges in the Town of Hamden Court at 5:30 p.m. on February 27.
James L. Clark, 29, of Stamford was arrested by state police on February 26 on warrants issued by Greene County Family Court and Town of Stamford Justice Court.
Clark was arraigned in Town of Stamford Justice Court and remanded to the count y jail in lieu of $835 cash bail to await further court action.
Michael P. Rogers<?strong>, 47, of Stamford was arrested by state police on February 20 and charged with second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation after he was stopped in Stamford for a traffic violation.
Rogers was arraigned in Village of Stamford Justice Court and released to reappear at a later date.
Spring N. Benjamin, 23, of Grand Gorge was arrested by state police on February 21 and charged with DWI following a one-car property damage accident on Route 23 in the Town of Kortright.
She was issued an appearance ticket returnable in Town of Kortright Justice Court on March 20.
Keith J. Laskowski, 48, of Gilboa was arrested by state police on February 24 and charged with DWI following a two-car accident on Route 23 in the Town of Harpersfield.
Police say they charged Laskowski when his blood alcohol content allegedly tested .09 percent.
He was issued an appearance ticket returnable in Town of Harpersfield Justice Court on March 26 at 7 p.m.
Justin D. Burroughs, 26, of Grand Gorge was arrested by state police on February 26 and charged with DWAI after he was stopped at the intersection of West End Avenue and Lake Street in Stamford for a traffic violation.
Police say they charged Burroughs when his blood alcohol level allegedly tested .07 percent. He was also charged with having an open container and failure to stop at a stop sign.
He was issued appearance tickets returnable in Village of Stamford Justice Court on March 1 at 9 a.m.
