Area Police News: Aug. 11, 2010
Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies, acting on a tip, located and seized marijuana plants growing outside a state Route 10, Town of Delhi residence and arrested the resident of that home last week Wednesday.
Deputies arrested and charged Howard Vogel, 48, of Delhi with unlicensed cultivation of marijuana and unlawful possession of marijuana.
Vogel was issued appearance tickets returnable in the Town of Delhi Court on August 31.
Joseph V. Sciortino, 57, of Yaramenko Road, Margaretville was arrested by state police on August 4 and charged with unlawful possession of marijuana and unlawfully growing marijuana. State police report that they responded to a call from Sciortino who reported that a burglary had taken place at his home. When police arrived they found six large marijuana plants growing in plain view that Sciortino allegedly admitted growing.
He was arraigned in Town of Middletown Justice Court and released to reappear later.
John C. Trahan, 20, of Grand Gorge was arrested by state police Friday and charged with aggravated unlicensed operation and speeding after he was stopped on Route 23 in Harpersfield.
Trahan was arraigned in Town of Harpersfield Justice Court and released to reappear on August 23.
Previous charges of DWI and failure to keep right against Delhi resident John Van Nostrandwere dismissed in Delhi Town Court following administrative procedures and a motion made to the court by Van Nostrand’s attorney, Michael A. Jacobs of Stamford.
