Area bowlers rolled to tournament win
Margaretville — Two exciting bowling tournaments took place at Margaretville Bowl last week.
On Wednesday, October 11 the 700 Club had another large field of bowlers in the annual event. Open to any bowler who has ever rolled a 700 series of three games in league play at Margaretville Bowl, the scratch tournament had eight local sponsors. This year, for only the third time in its history, a 700 series was rolled during the competition when Ken Cartwright rolled a 711 series.
The final match in the elimination tournament pitted Bob Erickson against Armen Murad. In the match, with neither bowler rolling his best, Armen won (163 to 158) to claim the largest cash prize. Cash prizes for second, third and fourth went to Erickson, Dave Hull and Tom Miller, respectively.
The tournament on Thursday April 12 was a No-Tap, nine pins on the first ball counted as a strike.
The first place cash prize was won by the team of Ollie and Maria McAdams each of whom bowled a “300” game. Tito Endaya and Ed Vitale were second.
