Antonia “Toni” Monastyrski, 88, of Margaretville, and formerly of New York City, died on Monday, Jan. 14, 2013 at Cold Spring Hills Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation on Long Island.
She was born on April 11, 1924 to Julia and Semen Kozak in the Ukraine, the youngest of five children. Looking for a better life, she immigrated to the United States after World War II.
She was married to Paul Monastyrski, who died in January, 1992.
Antonia was a devoted Catholic, loved God, this country and the Catskills. She also enjoyed gardening and loved her flowers.
Her three children, Maria, Irene, and Walter and four grandchildren survive her.
A funeral service will be held on Long Island in the spring. Interment will be in the Bedel Cemetery, also in the spring.
