40th Antique and Flea Market is Saturday at Village Park
For the 40th time, the Auxiliary of Margaretville Memorial Hospital/Mountainside Residential Care Center will hold an Antique and Flea Market on Saturday, Aug. 2 from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. in the Margaretville Village Park, behind the A&P.
The event will feature approximately 150 vendors selling antiques, crafts, and countless other interesing finds.
Proceeds from the antique flea market will directly benefit the local health care facilities affiliated with Margaretville Memorial Hospital. The auxiliary’s current goal is to raise funds to purchase a four-wheel-drive ambulance for the hospital. Last year, the organization raised more than $107,000.
In addition to the numerous shopping opportunities, the hospital-sponsored Health Fair will be held during the market offering free blood pressure testing and blood sugar screening.
The market has grown tremendously in four decades. This year’s event will include approximately 150 vendors who will be displaying their wares. In a typical year, more than 4,000 attend the event. Vendors offer a huge variety of antiques and collectibles, jewelry, tools, artwork, flowers, handmade articles and toys.
There is ample free parking available. Admission will be $2 for adults and children over 12. For those of you who like to be there before 9 a.m. for first pick, there will be a $3 charge for early admission.
In addition to vendor fees, the auxiliary contributes all proceeds from the sale of refreshments throughout the day, including hamburgers, hot dogs, chicken barbecue, and its legendary bake sale.
Proceeds from the Margaretville Rotary Club’s ice cream booth and an annual quilt raffle will also be donated to the auxiliary.
Volunteers will assist with the on-site parking and set-up. Vendors will be organizing their booths from 7-9 a.m. Please call 845 586-3844, if you would like information regarding the market or vendor tables.
