Dennis Metnick honored at MARK Project roast

Since opening his law practice in Margaretville in 1992 he has been town attorney for the Town of Middletown and has served on the boards of directors and as a officer of many not-for-profit corporations in the area including the Round Barn of Halcottsville, The Roxbury Arts Group, Shandaken Theatrical Society, Greater Margaretville Chamber of Commerce, Margaretville Hospital, Mountainside Residential Care Center, Delaware County ARC and as a member of the Board of Governors of New York State ARC.


Todd will attend NYLA conference

The Rotary Club of Margaretville has announced the selection of Olivia Todd to attend the Rotary Youth Leadership Conference this summer at Hartwick College in Oneonta.


McColgan honored for computer work at Alfred graduation

Alfred — Sean McColgan of Kelly Corners was a May 16 graduate of Alfred State SUNY College of Technology located in Alfred where he earned a degree in information technology with a major in computer web development.


MCS students earn recognition at annual academic banquet

Margaretville Central School held its 13th annual Excellence in Academics Banquet on Monday night to recognize the academic achievements of students in grades seven through 12. In addition to honoring the students who appeared on the honor roll, high honor roll and principal’s list, a number of scholarships and awards were presented.


Students honored for achievements at annual Andes athletic banquet

Andes Central School held its 2009-2010 Athletic Banquet on Wednesday, June 9 during which the school’s top athletes were recognized for their efforts during the 2009-2010 school year. The Excellence in Athletics Award in memory of Bruce Butler was awarded to Karli Tait and Rachel Andrews and Cody Ruff.

Margaretville Central School honors student-athletes, coaches at annual banquet

Margaretville Central School held its 17th annual athletic awards banquet Monday night to recognize the achievements of MCS student-athletes and to present a number of end-of-year awards.
In addition to recognizing the various accomplishments of Blue Devil sports teams, individual honors were bestowed with the Henry Dietrich Awards, the Nate Dougherty Memorial Awards and the Most Outstanding Senior Athlete Awards. In addition, the MCS athletic department presented the Distinguished Coaching Award to longtime modified softball coach Bill Fiedler.


Roxbury is chosen as winner of "Re-Store Design Challenge"

Roxbury —After a competitive and lengthy selection process, the hamlet of Roxbury was chosen to host the inaugural “Re-Store Design Challenge,” with “stores” to be unveiled in late July and open every weekend this August. 


LCDR Sanford earns commendation

Fort Dix, NJ — United States Naval Reserve Lieutenant Commander (LCDR) Richard D. Sanford Jr. has been awarded the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal by the Department of the Navy. The medal was awarded on April 14 and presented to LCDR Sanford last weekend at Fort Dix where his reserve unit drills.


Roxbury Cubs celebrated Scouting's 100th year

Cub Scout Pack #41 celebrated the 100th year of the Cub Scouts on March 13 at the Blue and Gold Dinner. Awards were presented to each of the boys at the potluck dinner, which also featured a dessert contest.
