Local students earn NCOC honors

The following ONC BOCES, Northern Catskill Occupational Center students were named to the Principal’s List and Honor Roll for the third quarter of the 2008-2009 school year.

Officials of Andes Central School have released the Honor Roll for the third marking period. Those earning recognition are:

Margaretville grad to study in five European countries this summer

Margaretville Central School graduate Eun Lee, daughter of Sunny and Joon Lee of Margaretville, will be traveling to five European countries this summer as part of a study abroad program.
Lee, a rising senior at Emory University in Georgia, will be traveling as part of the university’s European Sephardi Jewish Culture Program, a six-week intensive course devoted to Spanish Jewish culture Europe.

Brybag honored by SUNY Delhi

Delhi — Joseph Brybag of Fleischmanns, has been cited for academic achievement for the Fall 2008 semester at the State University of New York College of Technology at Delhi.
Brybag, an electrical construction and controls major, has qualified for the Honors List.

Roxbury Olympiad Team advances to state finals

Roxbury — The Roxbury Rockets brought home the second-place team trophy out of 11 teams at the Capitol Area Junior High Regional Tournament held on Saturday at Ravena. The finish qualifies the team to attend the State Finals on April 17 and 18, at the State University at New Paltz.

Stamford girl takes first place in opening spelling bee

Stamford — Ariana Rebecca Seton, a fourth-grader at Stamford Central School, successfully spelled the word “contrast” to win an MP3 player in the Delaware and Otsego county Arts and Cultural Spelling Bee. Eleven-year-old sixth-grader Jessica M. Alexander emerged victorious in her grade group when she spelled “designer” correctly.

Rosa brothers advance in military

Two New Kingston brothers have recently graduated from their respective military trainings. Ryan Rosa was commissioned a second lieutenant in the U.S. Marine Corps on Nov. 21, 2008 at Quantico, Va.

Roxbury lists honor students

Roxbury Central School announced yesterday the students named to the honor roll, high honor roll and superintendent’s list for the second quarter.

Moore named to RPI Dean's List

Rensselaer — David Spooner, acting dean of science of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute’s School of Science, has announced that Margaretville resident Casey Moore has been named to the college’s Dean’s List for the fall semester.
