First Catskills Cup has tennis prize money

Fleischmanns —The enduring tradition of summer tennis in Fleischmanns is lobbing into the future as the Catskills Cup at  Fleischmanns Park, a three-day competitive tournament on August 14-16 with more than $2,000 in prizes in the offing. 


MCS Booster Club hosts sports camp

The Margaretville Central School Booster Club will hold a week of summer camp during the month of August.
The All-Sports Camp will be held the week of August 3 through 6 and will feature a variety of activities including baseball, basketball, soccer, crab soccer, dodgeball, flag football, floor hockey, kickball, lacrosse, PE paintball, pickleball, tag games, tennis, ultimate Frisbee, wiffleball, and more.


Margaretville falls in Legion Regionals

There’s a whole different level of Legion baseball outside of Delaware County. Margaretville’s Post 216 found that out the hard way when they squared off against defending District champion Elmira-Heights Thursday at Chenango Valley High. After Walton dropped the opening round game, 18-0, Margaretville suffered a similar fate, falling, 15-0, in the nightcap to the defending champions.


Iva Terry Andes Invitational Golf Tournament in Delhi Aug. 16

Andes — The 28th annual Iva Terry Andes Invitational Golf Tournament will be held at the Delhi College Golf Course on Sunday, Aug. 16.
The tournament is open, by invitation, to anyone who has lived or worked in Andes, their family and friends. The tournament format is a four- person Captain and Crew with a shotgun start promptly at 1 p.m.


9th Annual Tunament

FUN FOR A GOOD CAUSE — The Ninth Annual Tunament Golf Tournament, named after the late Bill “Tuna” Sanford was held Friday at Shephard Hills Golf Course in Roxbury. The annual event raises money to fund a scholarship for Margaretville Central School graduates in memory of Bill Sanford.

Anderson wins 8th time in Delaware Cty. Tourney

Delhi — While the big news out of Delhi Sunday was Brad Anderson’s record eighth Delaware County Amateur Golf Championship, the impressive showing of golfers from the eastern end of the county was also much discussed.


Margaretville advances to Legion regionals

A Patrick O’Connell pitching gem, near perfect defense, and timely offense helped propel Margaretville past Sidney, 3-1, in Monday’s qualifying round for the District Championship in Junior American Legion baseball.

Margaretville bests Stamford 8-4; Awaits possible Legion playoff nod

There was much uncertainty for the Margaretville American Legion baseball team as they headed to Stamford to play a Delaware League contest Monday night.
Backlogged games and the news that the Roxbury team had folded kept the Margaretville nine guessing about their playoff chances. With Margaretville locked in a three-team playoff chase with Delhi and Stamford, the visitors knew their only chance to continue their season in the playoffs was to earn a victory over their Stamford hosts. Margaretville did just that scoring early and often to top the junior Indians, 8-4.
