Area Police News: December 18, 2013

Officers from the Town of Shandaken Police Department investigated a two-car personal injury accident on December 14 on Route 228 in Big Indian.
Officers report that a vehicle being driven by Carsten Warnes, 46, of Boiceville was eastbound on Route 28 when he lost control of his vehicle and crossed into the westbound lane striking a vehicle operated by Paul Weber, 56, of Cooperstown.
A passenger in Weber’s vehicle, Heidi Pressly, 54, of Edmeston, was transported to Margaretville Hospital by the Shandaken ambulance with minor injuries.

Area Police News: December 11, 2013

Andrea M. Smithshecter, 33, of Mt. Vision was arrested by state police on November 29 and charged with unlawful possession of marijuana after she was stopped for speeding in Route 28 in Arkville.
Police say she was also charged with speeding and no headlamp.
Smithshecter was issued appearance tickets returnable in Town of Middletown Justice Court on December 19 at 9 a.m.
Linda Caso, 52, of Delhi was arrested by state police on December 4 and charged with DWI following a one-car personal injury accident on Wolf Hollow Road in Andes.

Roxbury Town Constable Steve Williamson investigated a series of accidents during the past week.

Sheila Biruk, 63, of Halcottsville was driving on Route 30 in the Town of Roxbury about 5 p.m. when she struck a deer. There were no injuries.

Area Police News: November 27, 2013

Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies issued a criminal summons on November 25 to Madeline Minervini, 51, of New Kingston on a charge of second-degree aggravated harassment. It is alleged that Minervini made numerous harassing phone calls to another person after being requested to stop.
Minervini is to appear at the Middletown Court on December 5 to answer the charge.

Area Police News: November 20, 2013

Delaware County Deputies arrested James Terry, 43, of Downsville on November 13 on an arrest warrant issued by the Town of Hamden Court charging him with third-degree grand larceny. Terry was arranged in front of Judge Merrill and released to reappear on a later date and time.

Timothy Reiche, 21, of Arkville was arrested on November 4 by state police and charged with fourth-degree criminal possession of marijuana and second-degree criminal use of drug paraphernalia after police responded to a call at a Roxbury home where they allegedly found Reiche and a quantity of marijuana.

Area Police News: November 6, 2013

Michael J. Labumbard, 49, of Margaretville was arrested by state police on October 29 on a criminal summons charging him with writing 14 bad checks to the Margaretville Country Store.
He was ordered to appear in Town of Middletown Justice Court on November 21 to answer the charges.

Jolene L. Hynes, 36, of Stamford was arrested by state police on October 30 and faces a number of charges after police searched her home and allegedly found drugs and drug paraphernalia in her home in the company of a child.

Thomas H. Brown, 62, Springfield, OH was driving a 2014 International tractor (without a trailer) east on Route 23 in the Town of Roxbury about 7:30 a.m. on Monday when he lost control of the vehicle, drove off the roadway and sheared off two telephone poles. Personnel from the Grand Gorge Rescue Squad and the Grand Gorge Fire Department responded to the scene. Brown was transported by ambulance to Fox Hospital in Oneonta for treatment of undisclosed injuries. Roxbury Constable Steve Williamson said the accident is still under investigation.

Police News: October 23, 2013

Thomas S. Merritt, 62, of Cornwall On The Hudson was arrested by state police on October 20 and charged with DWI after he was stopped on Arbor Hill Road in Delhi for an equipment violation.
In addition to DWI, police say that also charged Merritt with refusal to take a blood test, no plate lamp and plate obstructed.
He was issued appearance tickets and released to appear in Delhi Court at a later date.

Area Police News: October 16, 2013

On Tuesday afternoon, October 8, Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies and Investigators, assisted by Sheriff’s Office K-9 Ozzie and state troopers, arrested three area residents on sealed grand jury indictment warrants issued by the Delaware County Court at the conclusion of a nearly year-long home invasion robbery investigation conducted by the sheriff’s office Criminal Investigation Division with the assistance of the Delaware County Probation Department.

Area Police News: October 2, 2013

Delaware County Deputies investigated a car vs. skate boarder accident in the Town of Middletown on September 24. Jessica Koester, 42, of Middletown was operating her 2007 Subaru in a southerly direction on Glen Acres Road when Rolando Martinez, 19, of Montauk was traveling in a northerly direction on his skateboard.
Koester swerved in an attempt to avoid hitting Martinez but was unable to do so as he was in the middle of the road. Rolando was transported to Albany Medical Center by Life-Net helicopter where he was listed in serious but stable condition.
