Area Police News: April 23, 2014

A level three sex offender and New York State parole absconder apprehended by members of the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office and United States Marshals New York/New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force on Wednesday morning faces additional charges. 


Area Police News: April 16, 2104

Delaware County Deputies arrested Nick Malaxos, 67 of Margaretville on April 8 for one count of issuing a bad check a class “B” misdemeanor in violation of the New York State Penal Law. He was issued an appearance ticket returnable to the Town of Roxbury Town Court on April 23 at 7 p.m.


Area Police News: April 9, 2014

A Prattsville man faces a number of traffic charges following a high-speed chase Sunday that ended when he went off county Route 919 in Gilboa.
Roxbury Constable Steve Wil­liamson reports that the chase, with speeds in excess of 100 miles per hour, began on Route 30 in Grand Gorge where he first tried to stop the vehicle operated by Jason Conklin, 37.
Williamson reports that after Conklin went off the road and into a field, he tried to flee the scene on foot.


Area Police News: April 2, 2014

James Zoccoli, 61, of Shady was arrested by Shandaken Police on March 26 and charged with third-degree unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.
He was arraigned in Town of Shandaken Justice Court and remanded to the Ulster County Jail in lieu of $1,000 cash bail to await further court action.
Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested Frank A. Darmody, 34, of Arkville on March 27 on an arrest warrant from Town of Jefferson in Schoharie County.
Deputies located Darmody at his residence in Arkville and turned him over to Schoharie County Deputies.


Area Police News: March 26, 2012

On March 20, Delaware County Deputies responded to suspicious activity in a field adjacent to a residence located on state Route 10 in the Town of Hamden. Upon arrival, deputies located several individuals present in the field. Upon further investigation, Dominick C. Mucaria, 20, of Farmingdale was arrested for unlawful possession of marijuana, unlawful possession of an alcoholic beverage by a minor and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.
Mucaria is scheduled to appear in the Town of Hamden Court at a later time and date.


Area Police News: March 19, 2012

Two Delhi brothers, Jonathan K, 17, and Michael P. Stein, 20, were each charged with unlawful possession of marijuana on March 14 after state police responded to a domestic dispute call at their home and found the two sitting in a truck in front of the home where they smelled the odor of marijuana.
Police say they issued appearance tickets returnable in Town of Delhi Justice Court.
Sarah E. VanBlarcom, 28, of Arkville was arrested by state police on March 16 and charged with DWI after she was stopped on county Route 18 in Stamford for an equipment violation.


Area Police News: March 12, 2012

Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested Amy L. Gilles, 24, of Kortright on March 7 on an arrest warrant issued by the Town of Wawaring Court for two counts of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and possession of a hypodermic instrument.
Gilles was taken into custody and turned over to the Ulster County Sheriff’s Office.
A Village of Stamford man has been arrested for the second time in the past year for selling heroin in that village.


Area Police News: March 5, 2014

Nigel D. Aldrich, 22, of Hobart was arrested by state police on February 25 and charged with unlawful possession of marijuana after he was stopped on county Highway 38 in the Town of Middletown for a traffic violation.
Police say they smelled the odor of marijuana coming from Aldrich’s vehicle and upon questioning; he turned over to them a small bag of pot.
Aldrich was issued an appearance ticket returnable in Town of Middletown Justice Court on March 6 at 9 a.m.


Area Police News: February 26, 2014

A Brooklyn woman was charged by state police with petit larceny on February 22 after she allegedly stole a pair of skies on February 19 at Plattekill Ski Resort in Roxbury.
Bjorg Magnea, 49, was issued an appearance ticket after the owner of the missing skies allegedly saw Magnea place them on a ski rack, three days after they originally went mission.
Magnea is scheduled to appear in Town of Roxbury Justice Court on March 5 at 7 p.m.


Area Police News: February 19, 2014

A Stamford woman was arrested by Delaware County Sheriff’s Investigators on February 10 and charged with a number of crimes following a heroin trafficking investigation.
Kelly M. Abbes, 40, also known as Kelly Zimmerman, was initially arrested and charged with third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance, a class B felony, and fourth-degree conspiracy, a class E felony.  Following a search of her residence by sheriff’s investigators, sheriff’s K-9 “Ozzie”, and state troopers, Abbes was also charged with criminally possessing a hypodermic instrument, a class A misdemeanor, and unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation.
