Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a one-car motor vehicle accident in the Town of Bovina on October 17. The vehicle, driven by Cody M. Weber, 24, of Bovina was east bound on county Route 6. Weber lost control of his vehicle and the vehicle left the roadway and landed about 100 feet from the road. Weber was taken to O’Connor Hospital and then to Bassett Hospital for his injuries. Weber was ticketed for DWI, failure to keep right, and moving from lane unsafely. The tickets are returnable in Bovina Town Court on Nov. 17 at 1 p.m.

A former Margaretville man was indicted last week by a state grand jury in Monmouth County, N.J., on charges stemming from his attempting kidnapping of a man he believed was the boyfriend of his ex-girlfriend. Thomas A. Filupeit, 53, was charged in the four-count indictment that included attempted kidnapping, attempted burglary, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and unlawful possession of a weapon.

Joseph P. VanLeuvan, 22, of Boiceville faces a number of traffic violations after he was stopped by state police Sunday on Main Street in Fleischmanns for allegedly crossing the center half of the roadway. Police say they charged VanLeuvan with failure to keep right, unlicensed operation and second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation.

State police arrested Fleischmanns resident Betsy L. Peters, 27, last Tuesday on a bench warrant issued by the Town of Roxbury Court for failure to appear. She was released on $250 bail to reappear on November 2.

Jeremy J. Degroat, 17, of Hensonville, a Grand Gorge BOCES student, was arrested by state police Wednesday and charged with petit larceny after he allegedly stole a digital camera from another student at the Grand Gorge BOCES facility. He was issued an appearance ticket returnable in Town of Roxbury Court on Oct. 12.

Tammy L. Torres, 36, of Binghamton was arrested by state police Saturday and charged with DWAI drugs after she was stopped on Betty Brook Road in the Town of Kortright after police received a report of a vehicle being operated erratically. Police say they stopped Torres and found an unmarked vile containing an unknown liquid; which was secured for testing.

A Staten Island woman had to be rescued from the Esopus Creek last week Sunday after her leg became wedged between large rocks while she was tubing. Shandaken Police report that they responded to a 911 call reporting that a recreational tuber was in distress in the Espous Creek.
When police arrived at the scene, near the intersection of Old Plank and Waterworks roads near Phoenicia, they found Rachael Pollack, 21, of Staten Island screaming for help and stating that her leg was wedged between rocks.

Renee L. Beers, 20, of Margaretville was arrested by state police last week Saturday on a warrant issued by the Town of Middletown Justice Court charging her with writing three bad checks. Beers was arraigned before Justice Glen George and released to reappear on Sept. 9.

Two area men were charged by state police with petit larceny last week Friday after they were allegedly caught stealing six 30-packs of beer from the Freshtown Supermarket in Margaretville.
Robert E. Bishop, 41, of Arkville and Goshen and David R. Spriggs, 34, of Fleischmanns were arrested in the incident.

State police arrested Buffalo resident Michael Lukacz, 46, last Saturday after they received a report of a vagrant person behind the optometrist in Stamford. Police say Lukacz, having no financial means to get a bus ticket, was begging people for beer and cigarettes, but that he told police he would leave the area. Lukacz reportedly returned to the property that day, and was subsequently arrested for trespassing. He was arraigned and remanded to the Delaware County Jail on $250 cash/$500 bond bail.
