Area Police News: May 2, 2012

Shandaken Police report the arrest on April 24 of Roger A. Berry Sr., 67, of Shokan after they received a call alerting them about an altercations at a local business.
Police responded to the scene and arrested Berry, charging him with second-degree harassment. He was issued an appearance ticket returnable in Town of Shandaken Court at a later date.


Area Police News: April 25, 2012

Shayne D. Wilber, 20, of Mt. Tremper was arrested on April 17 by Shandaken Police and faces nine traffic tickets after police received complaints from neighbors of a loud motorcycle operating in the area.


Area Police News: April 18, 2012

Ryan M. Porter, 19, of Stamford was arrested by state police on April 10 and charged with second-degree assault, a felony, and endangerment of property following a fight at the Country Store in Stamford. Police say Porter confronted another man at the Country Store and allegedly punched him in the face, breaking his nose, before fleeing the scene. Property in the store was damaged during the fight. Authorities say the incident may have been provoked over a woman.


Area Police News: April 11, 2012

Howard A. Macken, 23, of Grand Gorge was arrested by state police on April 5 and charged with unlawful possession of marijuana after troopers stopped his vehicle for a traffic violation on Route 30 in the Town of Roxbury.
Police say they charged Macken after detecting the odor of marijuana, which resulted in a search of his vehicle.
Macken was issued an appearance ticket returnable in the Town of Roxbury Justice Court on April 18 at 9 a.m.


Area Police News: April 4, 2012

Following a traffic stop on Route 23 in the Town of Harpersfield, Delaware County Sheriff Deputies arrested Dean A. Scherer, 50, of Bloomville for DWI. Scherer was also issued a uniformed traffic ticket for speeding. Scherer is to appear in Town of Harpersfield Justice Court at a later date.


Area Police News: March 28, 2012

On March 25 as a result of a domestic incident, Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested John C. Todd, 30, of Margaretville for fourth-degree criminal mischief due to allegedly damaging his ex-girlfriend’s car with a tire iron.
Todd was arraigned at the Town of Middletown Court and released on his own recognizance. At such time a temporary order of protection was issued on behalf of the victim and her children. Todd is ordered to appear before the aforementioned court on April 12 for further court proceedings.


Area Police News: March 14, 2012

Jody Wagner, 33, of DeLancey was arrested by state police on March 7 and charged with aggravated DWI following a one-car property damage accident on Sherwood Road in Delhi. Police say they charged Wagner when his blood-alcohol content allegedly tested .19 percent. Police say they also charged Wagner with moving from a lane unsafely.
He was issued tickets returnable in Town of Delhi Justice Court on March 20 at 9 a.m.


Area Police News: March 7, 2012

Jeremy J. Morris, 28, of Arkville was arrested by state police on February 29 on a warrant issued by the Town of Roxbury Justice Court charging him with failure to pay a previously levied fine.
Morris was arraigned in Roxbury Justice Court and remanded to the county jail in lieu of $500 cash bail to await further court action.

Erik Murad, 43, of Kelly Corners was arrested by state police on March 2 and charged with driving with a suspended registration and a suspended license.


Area Police News: February 29, 2012

James L. Clark, 29, of Stamford was arrested by state police on February 26 on warrants issued by Greene County Family Court and Town of Stamford Justice Court.
Clark was arraigned in Town of Stamford Justice Court and remanded to the count y jail in lieu of $835 cash bail to await further court action.

Michael P. Rogers, 47, of Stamford was arrested by state police on February 20 and charged with second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation after he was stopped in Stamford for a traffic violation.


Area Police News: February 22, 2012

A Denver woman escaped injury early last Wednesday afternoon when her northbound car veered off Route 30 just north of the intersection of county Route 38 in the Town of Middletown and plunged down a steep embankment, coming to rest in the woods, just off the 16th hole on the Hanah Country Inn golf course.
Elaine S. Lebowitz, 84, told state police that she was headed home when all of a sudden she struck the guardrail. Her car climbed over the rail and plunged over the bank, mowing down several small trees before coming to rest at the bottom of the hill.
