Area Police News: December 31, 2014

Isaac I. Gutierrez, 35, of Margaretville was arrested by state police on December 29 and charged with aggravated unlicensed operation after he was stopped on Bridge Street in Margaretville after a trooper allegedly saw him driving and knew him to be unlicensed.
Edward F. Lane, 45, also of Margaretville, and a passenger in the Gutierrez vehicle, was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana after troopers smelled pot as they approached the vehicle.
Both men were issued appearance tickets returnable in Town of Middletown Justice Court on January 22 at 9 a.m.


Area Police News: Dec. 24, 2012

A Town of Roxbury man was arrested by members of the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office Thursday afternoon on a sealed indictment warrant issued earlier that day, culminating a year and-a-half long investigation conducted by members of the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division with the assistance of New York State Police at Margaretville.

Area Police News: December 17, 2014

The Delaware County Sheriff’s Office investigated a fatal one-car motor vehicle accident on December 9 that happened on state Highway 10 in the Town of Hamden. The operator, Kelvin J. McKnight, 48, and a passenger, James C. Spain, 23, both of Walton, were traveling north on state Highway 10 in the Town of Hamden near the intersection of county Highway 26 when the vehicle veered to the left, drove off the highway and struck a tree.


Area Police News: Dec. 10, 2014

Lori A. Kellerhouse-Howard, 51, of Stamford was arrested by state police on December 2 and charged with disorderly conduct and second-degree harassment following a domestic dispute with her daughter. Police say that Kellerhouse-Howard was highly intoxicated at the time of the incident.
She was arraigned in Town of Harpersfield Justice Court and remanded to the county jail in lieu of $500 cash bail to await further court action.


Area Police News: December 3, 2012

Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested Michael I. Herman, 47, of Gilboa on November 25 for driving while intoxicated, unlawful possession of marihuana, two counts of consuming alcohol in a motor vehicle, inadequate headlights, and driving with obstructed vision. Herman was issued tickets and released to appear at the Kortright Town Court at a later date.
The Town of Shandaken Police Department reports the arrest of Gregory R. Coleman, 50, of Rutherford, NJ on November 29.


Area Police News: Nov. 19, 2012

Daniel R. Finkelstein, 20, of Manhattan was attested by state police on November 11 and charge with speeding and reckless driving after he was stopped on Route 10 in the Town of Kortright for allegedly driving 100 miles per hour in a posted 55 miles per hour zone.
Police say they charged Finkelstein after he passed a stationary radar unit set up on Route 10.
Finkelstein was arraigned in Town of Kortright Justice Court and released on $750 cash bail to reappear at a later date.


Area Police News: November 12, 2014

On November 4, the Dela­ware County Sheriff’s Department arrested Gerhard Kuenecke, 64, of Hancock on an arrest warrant issued by the Town of Andes Justice Court, charging him with two counts of endangering the welfare of a child, one count of petit larceny, and one count of second-degree harassment.
Kuenecke was arraigned in Town of Andes Justice Court and remanded to the county jail on $5,000 cash bail. Kuenecke is scheduled to reappear in the Town of Andes Justice Court on November 25 at 1 p.m.


Bovina search for cop killer unfounded

A possible link between an alleged cop killer and a stolen car found October 22 near Bovina turned out to be unfounded.
The stolen 2012 Porsche Cayman was discovered early Wednesday in the Town of Bovina and led to a police alert that Eric Matthew Frein could have stolen the car. The Porsche was reported stolen in Pennsylvania’s Pocono Mountains, an area where Frein, 31, had possibly been sighted on Monday.

Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested Vincent Grant, 57, of Pine Hill on October 27 on a criminal summons issued by the Middletown Town Court for the charge of second-degree harassment. He is to appear in the court on October 29 at 9 a.m.


Area Police News: October 22, 2014

An open 911 call originating from State Highway 28 in the Town of Bovina Thursday morning led to the arrest of a 22-year-old Monroe man on a felony Unlawful Imprisonment charge by Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies.
