Sheryl Rieck

Sheryl L. Rieck, 65, a resident of Margaretville, died September 20, 2014 at St. Peter’s Hospital in Albany.
Sheryl was born June 14, 1949 in Walton, the daughter of Ray and Lucy (Avery) Jocelyn.

Sheryl graduated from Margaretville Central School in 1968. She was employed at Big Scot in Kingston and also worked at the PX at the military base in Munich, Germany, returning home to be employed at the Margaretville Department Store.

Susan Dabritz

Susan Dabritz, 50, of Kailua-Kona Hawaii passed away on Friday, September 12, 2014 after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

She was born in Delhi and lived in Andes on 60 beautiful wooded acres with her mother, Joan, father, Fred and siblings, Kate and Fred. Sue would often explore the woods for hours with her faithful dogs, coming back home late in the afternoon. She had even discovered some caves on the property in which she enjoyed camping with friends.

Margaret Curran

Margaret Mary Curran, a resident of Mt. Upton and formally of Yonkers, the Bronx, and Halcottsville, passed away surrounded with love by her daughters and sons-in-law on September 17, 2014 at the age of 68.
She was born in London, England on July 19, 1946 to the late John and Ita Cleary of County Limerick, Ireland. She immigrated to America in 1952 and was raised by her mother on South Broadway in Yonkers.
She attended St. Mary’s School in Yonkers and graduated high school from Blessed Sacrament Academy. Margaret was a graduate of Mount Vernon School of Nursing, where she

David Goodchild, Sr.

David E. Goodchild Sr., 88, a resident of Arkville, died at his home on Tuesday, Sept. 16, 2014.

He was born on August 11, 1926 at Omer, MI, the son of William and Ethel (Jersey) Goodchild. David married Rose McCann on February 28, 1946 at Fleischmanns. Rose died on October 7, 2010.

Virgil Taylor

PO1 Virgil Allyn Taylor, USN, (Ret.), 68, of Goose Creek, SC, and formerly of Roxbury, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, Sept. 11, 2014. His funeral service will include military honors and he will be buried in Riverview Memorial Park, 3715 Azalea Drive, North Charleston, SC.

James Kirk

James S. Kirk, 89, passed away at his Andes residence on Monday, Sept. 1, 2014.
He was born in West New York, NJ, the first American child of three children to Millie and James McGhee of Scotland. His father passed away when he was three years old. His mother remarried to Alexander Kirk. They then had two more sons. James grew up in Wyandanch on Long Island.
James was in the U.S. Navy and served on submarines as a radio man in New London, CT during WW II.

June Dugan

June R. Dugan, late of Stamford, passed away peacefully at Fox Hospital in Oneonta on Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2014.

Roy Simons

Roy J. Simons, 83, a resident of Fleischmanns for the past 25 years, died Saturday, Aug. 23, 2014 at Mountainside Residential Care Center in Margaretville.
Roy was born July 18, 1931 in the Bronx, the son of Nathan and Ann (Nissen) Simons. He married Elaine Rosenblatt on April 11, 1981 in Queens.
Roy worked in retail sales for Stationary Outlet in New York City. He was a member of the Fleischmanns Fire Department, the Fleischmanns Senior Club and attended meetings of the Senior Council in Delhi.

John Beers

John J. Beers, a resident of Arkville, died at his home on Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2014.
John was born on April 15, 1942 at Pound Ridge, the son of Carl S. and Josephine (Gottfried) Beers. He married Wilma McCann on July 22, 1967 at Arkville.
John worked for Duncan D. Campbell on the farm in Andes for many years. Later he was a truck driver for the Town of Middletown Highway Department. John enjoyed coon hunting, fishing, and deer hunting.

Wayne Baer

Wayne Howarth Baer, 62, a resident of Arkville, died Thursday, Aug. 21, 2014 at Margaretville Hospital.
The son of Gordon L. and Ruth (Howarth) Baer, Wayne was born July 27, 1952 at Milford, MA.
He graduated from Roxbury Central School and then joined the U. S. Air Force, serving from May 1971 until August 1975.
Wayne worked as a beekeeper for the Ballard family’s honey business in Roxbury.
Wayne is survived by three brothers, three sisters and several nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles.
A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2014 at the Jay Gould Memorial Reformed Church in Roxbury with the Rev. Richard A. Dykstra officiating.
Committal will take place at a later date.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the Miller Funeral Home, Roxbury.
