Carl J. Davis, 88, a longtime resident of Arkville, passed away Wednesday, July 22, 2009.
Surviving are his wife, Shirley J. Davis, 81, of 63 years; eight sons and one daughter. Also surviving are 28 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
Frank A. Hartung, 67, of Andes, passed away Saturday, July 25, 2009, at his residence.
He was born April 1, 1942 in Jueterbog, Germany.
He married Doris Morschhauser on May 15, 1973, in Astoria, Queens.
He moved to Andes in 1995 from Astoria.
Leonard L. Logan, 82, of DeNicola Road, Halcott Center, died peacefully at home, with his family at his side on Tuesday, July 14, 2009.
He was born December 12, 1926 in Brooklyn, the son of the late Albert and Elizabeth Cusack Logan.
Mary Haynes Liddle, 91, died Wednesday, July 15 2009 at Abington Memorial Hospital in Abington, Pennsylvania.
She was born in Dry Brook on October 11, 1917, the daughter of Edith Kingdon Rosa and John Dudley Haynes. Mary was an only child.
Edwin Farrell Edwin Farrell, 93, of Horseheads, formerly of Erin, passed away on Monday, July 20, 2009 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on August 3, 1915 in Brooklyn, the son of the late Richard and Mary Bena Farrell.
He joined the New York City Fire Department on March 1, 1938 and retired a Lieutenant in 1973.
Ellen E. Sheehan, 87, of Stamford, formerly of Margaretville, passed away Monday, July 13, 2009 at Robinson Terrace, Stamford.
She was born July 11, 1922 in Freeport, the daughter of James and Mary Elizabeth (Stolzenberger) Tiernan.
Ellen graduated from Freeport High School and the Brownes Business School.
She married George J. Sheehan May 23, 1948 at Freeport.
Thomas D. Davis, 65, of Woodward, Oklahoma passed away Wednesday, July 8, 2009.
He was a graduate of Parson School of Design in New York City and resided in Pine Hill for many years before retiring to Oklahoma. He had a passion for design and could not pass a person or pet in need.
Lindon (Lindy) B. Morse, 94, of Main Street, Roxbury, passed away Monday, July 13, 2009 in Roxbury.
He was born February 17, 1915 in the Town of Roxbury, the youngest of seven children of Chauncey F. and Annie Dent Morse.
Edward R. Schluter Jr., 92, of Halcottsville passed away Saturday, July 11, 2009 at Mountainside Residential Care Center, Margaretville.
He was born July 23, 1916 in Oyster Bay, the son of Edward R. and Lillian Puvogel Schluter.
He married Matilda Erb October 16, 1946, in Mehanicsville.
He had been a resident of Halcottsville since 1980 and a member of the Halcottsville Fire Department.
Ed was a captain in the U.S. Army during WWII. He was with the 78th division, 309th Regiment Cannon Company and was awarded the Bronze Star.
He was a self-employed contracting engineer.
Ed was an active member and past chief of Hicksville Fire Department as well as a founding member of the Firemaster Benevolent Association.
