Laura Collocola

Laura Collocola, 93, formerly of New Kingston, died Sunday, June 6, 2010 at Wesley Health Care Center, Saratoga Springs. She was born Laura Garofola Nov. 24, 1916 in Brooklyn. When she was a young girl, her family moved from the city to Long Island and settled in Patchogue, where she met and married Lawrence Colocola. They stayed in Patchogue and raised three children.

William McGarvey

William Joseph McGarvey, 76, of Westminster, Md., died Wednesday, February 3, 2010 at Chambersburg Hospital in Chambersburg, Pa. He was born Feb. 4, 1933 in Margaretville, the son of the late Joseph and Agnes Walsh McGarvey.

Dorothy Griffin

Dorothy Bertha Griffin, 90, died Sunday, May 30, 2010 at her residence in Renaissance Garden, Seabrook Village in Tinton Falls, N.J. She was born in Haines Falls and grew up in Roxbury.

Eugene Finch

Eugene M. Finch, 69, of Valrico, Fla., formerly of East Syracuse, died Saturday, May 29, 2010 after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

Richard Miller was longtime Margaretville pharmacist

Richard Miller, a lifelong resident of Delaware County, died at his home in Margaretville on Thursday, May 20, 2010. Dick was born July 12, 1928, on the family farm in New Kingston, the son of William G. and Marjorie Davidson Miller.

Aranka Gobel

Aranka Gobel, 85, of Arkville, died Monday, May 10, 2010 at her residence.
She was born September 10, 1924 in Hungary, the daughter of John and Julia (Boheim) Gobel.
Aranka was a longtime Arkville resident.

William Weinpahl IV

We are deeply saddened to announce the end of an era for our family. Following the tragic, untimely death of his wife, Maria Speranza Weinpahl, Bill was never the same. He truly died of a broken heart.

George Hendricks Sr.

George J. Hendricks Sr., 87, of Margaretville, passed away Friday, May 14, 2010 at home on Southside Road. He was born Feb. 13, 1923, in the Town of Middletown, the son of James K. Hendricks and Elizabeth Platt Hendricks.
George attended Margaretville Central School.

Blanche Drexler

Blanche Drexler, 89, died in her sleep at the St. James Health Care Facility Smithtown on May 14, 2010, as the result of an inoperable brain tumor.
She was the wife of Dr. Herman Drexler and was born, raised and married in Brooklyn, where she raised two children, Frances Drexler Boonin and Robert Drexler.

Herman Gottfried was landowner ally versus NYC

Herman Gottfried, an attorney who represented hundreds of residents and business owners dispossessed by New York City’s Pepacton and Cannonsville reservoir projects, died April 24, 2010 at the age of 99.
Gottfried, just six months shy of his 100th birthday, passed away at Huntington Hospital in Huntington.
