Helen George

Helen “Bucky” George, 82, of Arkville, died unexpectedly while visiting a daughter in Grand Junction, Colo. Helen, originally from Mansfield, Mass., was employed at Margaretville Memorial Hospital as a registered charge nurse for 45 years before her retirement in 1992.
Helen’s passions included her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, for whom she sacrificed all personal needs and wants, putting her family first.

Florence Mathis

Florence C. Mathis, 80, of Margaretville.
On Thursday, July 17, 2008, although our mother, Florence C. Mathis, took her last breath, we rejoice that she entered the heavenly arms of our father, Alfred E. Mathis, who joined our Lord in 1996. Florence began her life in Dumont, N.J. on June 27, 1928, the daughter of John and Gladys Meister.
She married her one and only love, Alfred, on March 2, 1947, and began her journey to Margaretville, to their farm on Hubbell Hill, and raised their loving children.

Patricia Mariotti

Graveside services for Patricia Ann Mariotti, who died in Florida on November 16, 2007, will be held at the Clovesville Cemetery, Fleischmanns at 1 p.m. Sunday, July 27, 2008. Shirley Davis, CLN, will officiate at the service.
Arrangements are by the Hynes Funeral Home, Margaretville.

Bernard Ladenheim

With deep regret and sadness, the family of Bernard Leon Ladenheim, formerly of Margaretville, has announced his death. He passed away on Tuesday, July 8, 2008 at Benedictine Hospital from complications related to a stroke. Born in Ellenville on January 23, 1929, he was the son of Samuel and Molly Drantch Ladenheim. The Ladenheim family moved to Margaretville in 1938 and made their home in the area since that time.

Frances Greene

Frances B. Greene, 83, of Ellenville, a resident of Ellenville since 1956, and a former teller at the Fleischmanns Bank, died Friday, July 11, 2008 at The Mt. View Nursing Home, New Paltz. She was born in Highmount on March 31, 1925, the daughter of Loren and Hazel Boice Riley.

Fritz Wickert Sr.

Fritz Wickert Sr., 89, passed away at St. Peter’s Hospital Hospice Unit, Albany on Friday, July 4, 2008. He was born in Yugoslavia on March 2, 1919, the son of Fritz and Susanna (Muller) Wickert. He married Susanna (Groh) Wickert on September 1, 1938.

Charles Gavette

Charles R. “Chuck” Gavette, 52, passed away at his residence in Margaretville on Monday, June 30, 2008. He was born in Margaretville on March 16, 1956 the son of Glenn and Edna (Scott) Gavette. In the Margaretville area Chuck had worked for Titan Drilling, Belleayre Ski Center, Delaware County Highway Department with the bridge crew and presently was employed by the A&P Store.

Marian Connell

Marian Louise Connell of Margaretville died peacefully Tuesday, June 24, 2008 at age 97. She was born in Baldwinsville on February 25, 1911, the daughter of J. Carl and Louise Bigelow Connell.
She graduated from Baldwinsville Academy in 1928 and received her B.A. in math and sciences from Syracuse University in 1932.

Bruce Everett

Pendleton, NC — Bruce Eugene Everett Sr., 75, former area resident of Halcottsville and New Kingston, beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend, died Tuesday, June 24, 2008 after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
He was born in New York City on November 30, 1932, the son of the late Elizabeth Reid and Charles Everett.

Eleanor Stebner

Eleanor Stebner, (nee Webster), 71, passed away on Wednesday, June 25, 2008.
Surviving are beloved daughters, Barbara Hogan, Donna Willsen (Brian), Jo-Ann Wilster (Charles), Eleanor Heannings; cherished grandchildren, Richard, Timothy, Patrick, Kevin, Ryan, Kate, Ashley, Marissa and Alexis. A great-grandchild is due in January.
