Harold Murken

Harold Murken, 84, of Margaretvile, passed away Friday, Jan. 21, 2011 at Mountainside Residential Care Center, Margaretville.

He was born on May 3, 1926, in Brooklyn, the son of Harold E. and Mae (Merten) Murken.
Harold served in the U.S. Army during World War II, from 1942 to 1945.

He was a self-employed electrician, operating the Ridgewood Radio Business in Ridgewood, NJ.


Ralph Myers

Ralph “Lonnie” Myers, 90, of Old Halcott Road, Fleischmanns, died peacefully surrounded by his family on Wednesday Jan. 19, 2011 at Mountainside Care Center in Margaretville.

He was born in Highmount on December 19, 1920, a son of the late Clayton and Pearl Fuller Myers.


Ward Reynolds

Ward G. Reynolds, 92, of Halcott Center, died Saturday, Jan. 22, 2011 at the Albany Medical Center.

He was born June 4, 1918 in Fleischmanns, the son of the late Garfield and Claretta Griffin Reynolds and was a lifelong area resident.


Carole Krickhahn

Carole M. Krickhahn, 66, of Frost Valley Road, Oliverea, died Saturday Jan. 15, 2011 at her residence, surrounded by her family, after a battle with cancer.

She was born January 19, 1944 in White Sulfur Springs, a daughter of Wanda Kocijanski Cypert and
the late Paul Cypert.


Norma Martens

Norma J. Martens, 86, of Fleischmanns, died Friday, Jan. 14, 2011, at Margaretville Hospital.
Born in Kerhonkson on May 12, 1924, she was a longtime resident of Fleischmanns, taught social studies and home economics at Fleischmanns Central School and attended the Fleischmanns United Methodist Church.

Norma was married to Christian F. Martens on July 2, 1948. He died on Nov. 27, 2002.


James Gould

James Michael Gould, 61, of Margaretville died Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2011 at Bassett Hospital in Cooperstown. 
“Mike” Gould worked at Brookside Hardware for many years before succumbing to various health problems. 
He is survived by two nieces, Shea Flynn and Gamble Nelkin, and also by a nephew Tor Nelkin. 
No services are planned at this time. 


Mary Sanford

Mary E. Sanford, 51, of Halcottsville, died Saturday, Jan. 8, 2011 at Vassar Bros. Hospital, Poughkeepsie.

She was born August 27, 1959 in Worcester, MA, the daughter of Willis and Dorothy (Bodah) Sanford.


Richard Baker

Richard George Baker, 77, of Dolores, CO, passed away on Monday, Dec. 6, 2010 at Southwest Memorial Hospital in Cortez, CO after a prolonged illness.
He was born September 23, 1933 in Kingston, the son of Richard W. and Beatrice (Dunham) Baker. He grew up in Fleischmanns and later lived in both Margaretville and Arkville before moving to Colorado.


Allegra Tomlinson

Allegra E. Tomlinson, 87, of Halcottsville, died Sunday, Jan. 9, 2011 at St. Mary’s Hospital, Troy.
She was born August 10, 1923 in Margaretville, the daughter of Isaac LeVerne and Carrie Emily (Dutcher) Clark.

She married Milton (Tommy) Tomlinson on July 2, 1946 at Endicott.
Allegra worked for 19 years at Ireco in Port Ewen as a factory worker.


Michael Brogan

Michael John Brogan, 56, of Fleischmanns, passed away at his residence Saturday, Jan. 8, 2011.

He was born March 11, 1954 in the Bronx, the son of John and Grace (Mc Burnie) Brogan.
Michael graduated from John F. Kennedy High School in Somers. He also attended SUNY in New Paltz and graduated from SUNY-Delhi with an associate’s degree in business.
