Marilyn France

Marilyn Elizabeth France, 85, formerly of Pine Hill , Santa Barbara, CA. and Saugerties passed away August 25, 2011 at her home in Saugerties surrounded by the love of her daughters and family.

She was born in Providence, RI on June 25, 1926 to Eric and Gertrude Johnson. Marilyn was employed as a NY Telephone switchboard operator, a secretary at Onteora Central School and a broker’s assistant in Santa Barbra, CA. 

Kyra VanLeuvan

Kyra Bell VanLeuvan, infant daughter of James P. VanLeuvan and Mindy R. Robbins of Kingston, died at Northern Dutchess Hospital, Rhinebeck on Wednesday Aug. 31, 2011.

Kyra is also survived by; maternal grandparents, Tammy Robbins of Accord, Bradley A. Robbins of West Hurley, paternal grandparents, Christine VanLeuvan of Kingston, James VanLeuvan of Kingston, maternal great-grandmother Margaret Wolfeil of Accord, Regina Robbins of Moundsville, West Virgina, paternal great-grandparents Audrey and Peter Devereaux of Poughkeepsie. Many aunts, uncles and cousins also survive.

Erwin Gordon

Erwin “Gordy” Gordon, 82, of Mill Street, Pine Hill, passed away Sunday, Aug. 21, 2011 at the Mountainside Residential Care Center in Margaretville.

An area resident for the past 35 years, he was born July 10, 1929 in Corydon, PA. He was a former resident of Salamanca, and was the last living descendant and Chief of the Corn Planter Tribe. Gordy was active in Native American events, and was a respected speaker and educator at area schools, community centers and service organizations.

James Elliot Sr.

James William Elliott Sr., 87, of new Kingston, passed away Saturday, Aug. 20 2011 at the Margaretville Hospital, Margaretville.

He was born November 24, 1923 on the family farm in New Kingston, the son of James Thomas and Marion (Long) Elliott. He operated this farm until his health made him semi-retire.

Bill was a graduate of Margaretville Central School and attended Cornell University.
He married Elizabeth Day June 14, 1947 at the Presbyterian Church in Canandaigua.
Bill served in the U.S. Army Air Force where he was a flight engineer and gunner on the B-17.

Donald Bouton

Donald W. Bouton, 91, of Halcott Center passed away in his home surrounded by his family on Friday, Aug. 5, 2011.

He was born on May 21, 1920 in Halcott Center, the son of Marshall and Ella Slauson Bouton.
Donald attended Halcott District #2 (a one-room schoolhouse) through the eighth grade and graduated from Fleischmanns High School in 1938. He attended Delhi Agricultural College, but left after one year due to his contracting Pleurisy. After a lengthy recovery, he did not return to college and stayed to work on the Bouton family farm.

Francis Fairbairn

Francis E. Fairbairn, 83, of Arkville passed away Wednesday, Aug. 3, 2011, at St. Peter’s Hospital in Albany.

He was born June 4, 1928, in Fleischmanns, the son of George J. and Marjorie (Todd) Fairbairn.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1950 until 1952, the Korean War.

Francis was a lineman for the Niagara Mohawk electric company in Cobleskill. He retired in July 1984, after working for 31 years.

Anne Z. Danulevith

Anne Z. Danulevith, 93, of Margaretville, died Friday, Aug. 5, 2011 at Mountainside Residential Care Center, Margaretville where she had been a resident since October 17, 2005.

She was born October 9, 1917 in Brooklyn, the daughter of Peter and Elizabeth (Baltranis) Zurba.
She married Alexander Danulevith on July 20, 1946. He died March 23, 1999.

Anne was a person who enjoyed reading, doing needlework and taking care of her beloved cats.
She had lived in Blooming Grove and Harriman before moving to live with her daughter, Anita Olson, in Fleischmanns.

Elton Ridge

Elton Wendell Ridge, 91, of Roxbury, passed away Friday, July 29, 2011 at his home.
He was born October 14, 1919 and raised by his Quaker grandparents, Kathryn and Monroe Ridge in Philadelphia, PA and Seaside Park, NJ.

He graduated from Frankford High School in 1937 and during the Depression years worked in restaurants, selling magazines and candy and at DuPont, Pompton Lakes, NJ.

On February 8, 1959, Pompton Lakes Mayor proclaimed that day as Elton Ridge Day.

Thomas Bergmann

Thomas Bergmann, 59, died Wednesday, July 27, 2011.
He was born on Long Island December 8, 1951, the son of Frank and Gloria Bergmann.

He will be greatly missed by his two children, Katie and Max, his brothers and sisters, Frank, Dolores, Bill, Tim, Jim, Christine, Keith and George.
Thomas was predeceased by his parents Frank and Gloria Bergmann.

The funeral was held at 12 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 3 in East Hampton.

Dr. Gerald S. Burday

Dr. Gerald S. Burday, 78, clinical psychologist and mentor to The Arc of Delaware County, died in his Monticello home on Thursday, July 7, 2011.

He was born in the Bronx, the son of the late Franklin and Pauline Savetsky Burday. He was predeceased by his wife, Phyllis Ruth Burday in 1994.
