Eder Davis, Jr.

Eder Charles Davis Jr., a long-time resident of Andes, died at his home on Thursday, July 10, 2014 with family members by his side.
Eder was born in Vega on August 27, 1929, the son of Eder Charles and Maud Helen (Palmatier) Davis. He married Mary D. Bell on November 10, 1951 in the Arkville Methodist Church. Mary died on May 4, 2008.

George Barkman, Sr.

George Willard Barkman Sr., 85, of Mesa, AZ, died Tuesday, June 24, 2014.
George was born on December 19, 1928 in New Kingston, the son of Myrtle and Clarence Barkman.
George loved to bowl, hunt, fish, and read. May he rest in peace.
He is survived by his wife, Rosina “Rose” Barkman; sons, George Barkman Jr. of Apache Junction, AZ and Gary Barkman of Mesa, AZ; brothers, Arthur Barkman of Mesa, AZ and Charles Barkman of Kentucky; a sister, Ruth Lawson of New York; grandchildren, Heath­er and Austin Barkman of Mesa, AZ, and many nieces and nephews.

Martha McNally

Martha C. McNally, 101, of Margaretville, formerly of Mineola, Port St. Lucie, FL, Hilton Head, SC, and Denver, joined Maynard, her beloved husband of 66 years, in heaven on Sunday, June 22, 2014.
She was born in Yonkers in 1912 to the late John and Catherine (Jackson) Hickey. She was the fifth of 15 children, all of whom have predeceased her.

Addison Ormsbee, Jr.

Addison Ormsbee Jr., a resident of Grand Gorge for 55 years, died Monday, July 1, 2014 at Oneonta.
Addison was born June 30, 1935 at Blenheim, the son of Addison Ormsbee, Sr. and Pauline Lee. He married Elizabeth (Keith) Ormsbee on June 18, 1960 at Voorheesville. She died March 21, 2013.
He drove truck, worked on a farm, and was employed at the charcoal plant in South Gilboa as a laborer. He enjoyed fishing and being with his family.

LeLand Fanning

LeLand Fanning
Leland Clinton Fanning, 81, of Peterboro passed away Sunday, June 8, 2014 at the VA Medical Center in Syracuse, with his family by his side.
He was born May 5, 1933 in Carlisle, a son of Grant and Mae Collins Fanning, and received his education at Schoharie Central School. He served in the U.S. Army 3rd Infantry during the Korean Conflict from 1954-56 as a presidential honor guard.

Hilda Mantynen

Hilda M. Mantynen, 86, a resident of Margaretville, died at her residence on Wednesday, June 18, 2014.
She was born in New York City on January 20, 1928, the daughter of Hilary and Manuel (Gomez) Rangel. Hilda married Harry A. Mantynen on October 20, 1945 at Grace Lutheran Church in Bellmore.
Hilda is survived by her beloved husband, Harry A.  Mantynen; a daughter, Nancy Burchell and sons, Ronald and Wayne Mantynen. Four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren also survive.

Harry Munsell

Harry  L . Munsell, 73, a resident of Roxbury, died Friday, June 13, 2014 at Samuel S.  Stratton Veterans Hospital in Albany.

Harry was born November 19, 1940 at Roxbury, the son of Henry and Margaret (Gregory) Munsell.

Betty Munro

Betty Martin Munro, a life-long resident of Delaware County, passed away on March 30, 2014.
Betty was born July 30, 1929, to Wendall and Elisabeth Sacket Martin. She and eight siblings, Wendall (Stub), Frank (Pepper), Don, Dave, Jim, Stan, Jeanne, and Jerry, enjoyed great adventures on the Prairie Hill Farm near Bloomville. Her curiosity and determination made her a great student, teacher, administrator, active volunteer at the Roxbury Public Library, and mentor in adventure to hundreds of children throughout Dela­ware County and beyond.

Clarise Kirksey

Clarise Bridgemon Kirksey, 81, of Margaretville and Manhattan, died peacefully on June 10, 2014 at The Haven Hospice at Bellevue Hospital in New York City.

Clarise was born February 11, 1933, in Chattanooga, TN to Clay and Lucy (Thomas) Bridgeman. She studied at Tuskegee Institute and the University of Minnesota before settling in New York. For over 35 years Mrs. Kirksey worked as a laboratory technician at Bellevue Hospital and New York Hospital until retiring in 1991.
