Annette Kvoba

Annette Chere Kovba, 46, a resident of Andes, died Thursday, Dec. 27, 2012 at Millbrook.
She was born May 7, 1966 in Syracuse, the daughter of Leonard and Shirley Ann (Craft) Kovba.
Annette graduated from Andes Central School in 1984 and attended SUNY Colleges at Morrisville and Delhi. She worked as a LPN for nursing homes in Roscoe, Delhi and Oneonta.
She enjoyed crafts, quilting, crocheting and making jewelry, which included beautiful bracelets and necklaces.

Annette is survived by her mother, Shirley Kovba; a brother, Chris Kovba, and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.


Heidi Kackos

Heidi Marie Kackos, 55, of Oliverea Road, Big Indian died Thursday, Dec. 20, 2012 after a courageous battle with cancer.

She was born in Queens on August 20, 1957, daughter of the late George and Christel Dohnberg Jensen. She had been a resident of the Catskills for over 35 years. Heidi was the consummate hostess, who loved to cook, and draw others into her infectious happiness! She had an over-riding concern for others, and was ‘Mom’ to many. She made her house a home, shared her love with all, and cherished her role as Oma.


Esther Tobin

Esther Tobin, 88, of Fleischmanns and Albany died peacefully on Friday, Dec. 14, 2012.

Esther was born in Brooklyn on January 29, 1925, the daughter of Daniel and Rachel Kaplan. She spent her early childhood growing up on the Red Kill Valley farm of her grandparents, Israel Isaac and Leah Kaplan. She returned to her Fleischmanns home every summer to join her large, extended family, and where her simple gifts of good will, gentle kindness, and the love of her Catskill Mountain home sustained her.


Renee Fisher

Renee Ann Fisher,71, of Margaretville and New York City passed away at her home in Manhattan on November 15, 2012 after a long battle with cancer.

She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Steven; her sons, Jonathan, and David; her daughter, Nicole and six grandchildren, Sydney, Sophie, Ella, Alexandra, Luke and Ryan.

Renee was born on February 17, 1941. During her working career was a first-grade teacher and office manager of both Fisher Composition and Urban Angler. She loved to fish, travel to exotic places, and best of all, interact with her grandkids.


Henry E. Weisgerber II

Henry E. Weisgerber II, 83, of Roxbury died Friday, Dec. 7, 2012 at his home after a long and valiant battle with cancer.

Henry was born in the Bronx on August 15, 1929, the son of Henry and Helen (Cornell) Weisgerber. Henry’s love of the Catskill Mountains made him a long-time resident. He was active in Revolutionary and Civil War reenactments. Mountain-man history was of particular interest to him and he enjoyed many years of involvement in this passion. He was known to many of his friends as “Dirt Dog.”  


Lorilee Herdman

Lorilee N. Herdman, 53, of Holiday Drive, Woodstock died suddenly Sunday, Dec. 2, 2012 at the Kingston Hospital. 

A native and lifelong area resident, she was born December 25, 1958 in Margaretville, daughter of Lillian Reynolds Herdman and the late Paul Herdman. 


Madeline DiLeo

Madeline Rose DiLeo, 90, a resident of Margaretville, died Sunday, Dec. 2, 2012 at Mountainside Residential Care Center in Margaretville where she had lived since June 12, 2009. 

Madeline, who formerly lived in Arkville, was born July 18, 1922 in the Bronx, the daughter of Tony and Mary (Capaldo) Rapillo. Her husband, Paul DiLeo died in December 1997.

She is survived by two sons, Philip DiLeo of Spring Hill, FL and Tony DiLeo of Margaretville and a son-in-law Sal Mucciacciaro. Eight grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren also survive.


Theodore Hull

Theodore F. Hull, 90, a resident of Johnson Hollow, Prattsville died Friday, Nov. 30, 2012 at A.O. Fox Memorial Hospital in Oneonta.

Ted was born May 22, 1922 at Johnson Hollow, Town of Roxbury, the son of W. Bruce and Emily Ruth (Thompson) Hull. He married Reta Martha Howard on January 15, 1943 at Cooperstown. She died November 13, 2000.


Katherine Rossman

God took another angel home when Katherine E. Rossman, a resident of Schenevus, and formerly of Margaretville, died on Monday, Nov. 12, 2012 at Bassett Hospital in Cooperstown.

She was born on September 5, 1946 at Andes, the daughter of Karl and Dora (Brodhun) Soderback.
Katherine worked at the Margaretville Hospital for nine years and also operated the Rossman Adult Home for 10 years.

She enjoyed helping people in any way that she could. She loved spending time with her family.


Michael Hasay

Michael Hasay, 98, of Fleischmanns, died on Monday, Nov. 12, 2012 after a brief illness.
Mr. Hasay was born on July 3, 1914 in Ihorvytsya, Ukraine, the son of Maria Kinjerski and Stephan Hasaj.

He was a carpenter/cabinet maker in Ternopil, Ukraine and continued his trade when he was a refugee
in Germany in 1945. Mr. Hasay was a member of the carpenters union in Kingston.
