A full weekend of entertainment at RAG

The Roxbury Arts Group is kicking off the holiday season with a full weekend of seasonal fun.

“It’s a Wonderful Life,“ RAG’s second annual radio-style staged play of a holiday classic will be performed live on Saturday, Dec. 4 at 4 p.m. in the Carriage House at RAG 76 MAIN! Admission is $10.


Belleayre cutbacks ripped by officials

It’s been a week since Belleayre Mountain Ski Center management announced that as many as 48 employees at the state-owned facility will lose their full-time employee status and be converted to seasonal employees.

Margaretville — A Holiday “Give & Gift” Making Fair, sponsored by The Kids in the Kaatskills in collaboration with the Catskill Mountain Artisans’ Guild, will present a children’s “Holiday Give & Gift Making Fair” on Saturday Nov. 27 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the second floor atrium of the Commons Building on Main Street, Margaretville.


Belleayre staffers cry foul over job cuts

All of the workers being laid off at Belleayre Mountain have reportedly been offered seasonal positions, with no salary protection, and a 20 percent reduction in annual hours.
Seasonal employees are limited to 1,750 hours of work in one year. The workers will be allowed to maintain their benefits if they return as seasonal workers.


Arkville man killed on Route 28

A 28-year-old Arkville man was struck and killed by a motor vehicle near Fleischmanns last Wednesday night.

Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies said that Jay P. Todd was walking on the northbound lane of Route 28 near the center of the roadway about 6:15 p.m. when he was hit by a northbound vehicle operated by Sheldon Sife, 84, of Fleischmanns.


Pasternak honored with Spirit of the Catskills award

Kenneth D. Pasternak, a lifelong presence in Fleischmanns, will receive the Spirit of the Catskills award at the 25th Annual Snowball at Belleayre Mountain in January.  


History walk featured at Frost Valley

Claryville — Participants in the History Walk at Frost Valley YCMA on Sunday, Dec. 19 from 1-3 p.m. will learn about the fascinating past of this century-old facility.

Betty Perazone was given a surprise 80th birthday party at The Roxbury Arts Bank Building by her family on Saturday. Those present for the celebration were her husband, Ed and their sons, Brian and wife, Ruth Ann and David and wife, Kim of Oneonta. MARK secures funding for Village of Fleischmanns

Fleischmanns— The Village of Fleischmanns will be the hub of construction activity this summer with an active NY Main Street Program, the recently announced $83,000 in Smart Growth Funding and a coveted $125,000 NYS Office of Parks Recreation and Historic Preservation award announcement for park development.


Jack McShane honored as 'friend of the forest'

Delhi — Andes resident Jack McShane accepted the Karl Connell Award from the Watershed Agricultural Coun-cil at the annual Watershed Forestry Program dinner and silent auction.

Tom Pavlesich, the council’s forestry program manager and Craig Cashman, the council’s executive director, presented McShane with a plaque at the November 5 event held at SUNY-Delhi.
